    Freenet is nifty and all, but it lacks a few important things: content control for synchronous updates or deletions, an HTTP gateway, and so on.

    I started using Freenet about... oh, 6 months ago, and all this time it has had a perfectly working HTTP gateway (FProxy) that allows viewing Freenet content in web browser and insertion of stuff - and it's bundled with the main distribution... Yep, I use Freenet mostly to read Content of Evil (that isn't visible for some reason right now - flaky insert?...)

    For the heck of it, I'm uploading the .tar.bz2 to Freenet right now. It's a copy I grabbed from one of the mirrors, PGP signature verifies, too.

    If you're running a Freenet node, you can grab the kernel source using the following key:

    In case there are people out there who haven't tried Freenet for awhile, it now sports a nifty interface of its own.

    The Unix version, at least, has a built-in web interface that you can typically get to at http://localhost:8081/. It's really pretty easy after that.

    There's even a DEB, making using Freenet dead easy for Debian users.

    That's a good idea - I don't think kernel.org would do this themselves, so I have ;-)

    I've started a Freenet semi-mirror of kernel.org, updated daily, under the key freenet:MSK@SSK@KSDtt1zYB9y4UAJPoSqKgb8eEbUQAgE/ke rnels//

    The first revision will be available tomorrow (sunday). I have limited disk space/bandwidth so only the important bits are mirrored (atm only the 2.4 kernels).
