love hotels vs. capsules
love hotels are rarely less than 3500 yen for the whole night - and even more rarely include a nice bath (well, nice - but not like a public bath). capsule hotels, on the other hand, have public baths and rarely cost more than 3500 yen. there are also some other rather worrying problems with love hotels.
mind you, i don't fancy really fancy capsule hotels that much either, on the hygiene front. one thing lovel hotels and capsule hotels both have in common is a porno channel or two on the television. that's not very enticing when your capsule smells funny, has gunk on the walls, and there are 20 other guys in the room many of them audibly tuned in to the porn and sounding rather fidgety. -

Re:To quote:
Even considering that the average Japanese women has the figure of a scrawny monkey,
how is this not a troll?
anyway, wai-wai had a story on this a while back, and suggested that while japanese men were shorter on average, 10% of the population were longer than 7 inches. i also heard from an aging japanese mistress that while caucasians are generally longer, japanese mushrooms were more stimulating - so don't get too excited about your race's statistical superiority. -
Re:What's happening latley?
Personally, I think that if a film/tv show takes place in a real location (i.e. not someplace like Gotham City or Metropolis) the producers should at least have the common decency of portraying the location accurately.
But, for comedy shows (the Simpson's, in this case) is it not unreasonable to stretch the accurate portrayal for comedic effect? Not to mention that Rio does, in fact, have monkeys (and monkeys have been known to attack), a high crime rate(*), and a lot of orphan children beggars(*). So, did the Simpson's really portray the city inaccurately? Any more inaccurately than a movie set in NYC where a guy gets mugged?
And, for non comedic works, is removing/changing ad space not depicting the location accurately? I could understand the owner's of Times Square being upset if Columbia had changed all the ads to porn ads...but, c'mon. This is laughable.
(*)Quoted from Yahoo! Travel:
Unfortunately it's not all sweetness in exuberant Rio. Even tourists will notice the favelas (shantytowns) that blanket the hillsides, providing meager comfort to more than a third of the city's population. Rio's poor lack education and medical care; drug abuse and violence litter the streets; and police corruption is more common than not. With chronic poverty and a stubbornly high crime rate, Rio is not unlike other high-density global centers. The difference is that the extremes in Rio can be difficult to ignore.

Re:Notice they're all americans
You need to read japanese newspapers more often - I'd recomend the english (side at least) rag mainichi daily news (mainichi literally means every day around the clock). At any rate - I've found that in my Japanese studies they suffer from a lot (not all) of the same things we do.
