Re:Seriously...
My Powerbook palm areas are pitted from the very thing. Minor annoyance.
I recommend these, anyway.

Re:Daring Fireball covered this
Ah...
Hint1: Why do you think iPod Mini comes with a shoulder strap?
Hint2
Hint3: Not every part of your body is shaking equally vigourously when you jog. If you have been using a belt clip, it's time to try something different. Cured skips on my 3G iPod like a charm.
I don't know how you can jog with a flash-based player though. Never decide you don't like your original playlist and want to select something different in the middle?

What I carry
I carry my laptop to work every day and have for 2+ years. It's an iBook, but the advice works for any brand.
1) Good carrying case. I use a Marware Sportfolio II, but get whatever works for you. Just get something with good padding and a shoulder strap. I chose the one I did because it's very light weight to go with my sub-5 lb laptop.
2) A retractable Ethernet cable and a retractable phone cord. When you're in a hotel or on the road or whatever, you'll love these, and they won't get tangled in your bag like a regular cable.
3) VGA adapter cable and AV adapter cable to get your video output onto TVs, projectors, and other places you need to show presentations, do code reviews, etc.
4) A Kensington Flylight is invaluable when you're on an airplane or somewhere dark and need to use your computer.
I hope these suggestions are helpful. -
Re:iPod for exercise and iTunes rules?I got the armband holder from Marware and used to (before school started) run several miles a day with no problems. Watch it when it rains though because the one time I went when there was a lot of humidity in the air, at the end of the run the iPod sort of seized up for a few minutes. It reset itself and was fine, but that was a pretty scary few minutes.

Sleeve + attache
My 12" PowerBook travels in style, or more precisely, in a Marware SportFolio Sleeve, which goes in my Land's End Square Rigger Classic Attache. No complaints on either; the Marware case fits like a glove and the Land's End attache is ridiculously durable. (As is its warranty; this one's been in use for about four years, and its predecessor made it to five before one of the clips for the shoulder strap broke and they replaced it for free.) Bit spendy, but you've got a Mac, so you clearly don't mind laying down a few more ducats for quality.

Two Cases: Marware and BooqI use two cases for my 15" TiBook - a Marware SportFolio Sleeve and a Booq Boa.XL. I would highly recommend both to anyone looking to get a backpack setup for a 15" PowerBook (and, if you left out the SportFolio, the Boa.XL is perfect for the 17" AlBook...)
In the past, I've used LOTS of bags; Spire makes some wonderful bags, and I used the heck out of an Endo with a previous employer.
I bought a Port bag for my TiBook when I actually cared about the "work appearance"; it's a sharp looking bag, and Port goes to great lengths with their air-suspension system. Heck, when I bought my first PowerBook, I bought the Apple-branded Port case to go with it!
I'd still recommend any of these cases, but most highly recommend Booq's bags.

Marware Sportfolio
When I got my PowerBook G4, I got the Marware Sportfolio from the Apple Store and I've loved it. It doesn't hold tons of peripherals, so if you have lots, it's probably not adequate, but for those of us with only a mouse, power supply, and a few cables, it's great. I don't know how impact resistant it really is, but they advertise it as being able to cushion a blow. It sure is sleak and I like that the material is a little stretchy. It just doesn't take up too much space at all. It's very low profile. Some of the newer models look a whole lot better too.

Re:I'll take a look when...Hows jogging, or any other impact sport, with your ipod?
I've never heard my ipod skip or had a problem with it.
I've dropped it twice on the treadmill while jogging (non-consecutively) before i bought a case for working out. Must be that huge 32meg buffer. The new ones are very light as well, though not near as light as the Gateway. I happen to wear mine around my bicep with an arm band (just un-velcro the cover) that leaves it easily accessible to switching tracks, virewing the name of a song, etc. No problems on the treadmill or the weight bench ever.
