Re: this is malarky.
The subject is their washing machines, not HVAC systems. While Nortek may use the Maytag brand name on air conditioners, Whirlpool owns Maytag the washing machine/home appliance company. See, for example, their About page which has a link to Whirlpool captioned "Find out more about our parent company."
It's not uncommon for large companies to split off a division and sell it to another company.

Re:You cannot outlaw bots
Now if people would just make bot software to do my dishes and mow my lawn...
You mean, like, some sort of...dish washing machine? And maybe some sort of automatic, robotic lawn-mower?
I mean, seriously, did you even try googling these things?

Re:I don't care how realistic the figures look......(or even collard shirt and jeans)....
Yum, that reminds me of a great collard shirt and jeans recipe I got off the web....
Ingredients
- Collard shirts (whole collard shirts or sleeves)
- 2 blue jeans (acid washed are best)
- Water
- Salt to taste
- Toppings (pick one or more)
- Hot pepper vinegar
- Onions and vinegar (chopped onions and vinegar mixed together)
- Salsa
- Small whole tomatoes
Wash shirts thoroughly (I use Tide He in my Maytag Neptune), approximately 3 or 4 times to ensure they are clean and free of insects. Remove large tags.
Place jeans in an extra-large pot with enough water to completely cover them. Add salt and cook jeans at least 30 minutes (longer if not pre-washed) before adding collards shirt. Add collards, big sleeves first (let them start boiling), then add remainder of shirts. Cook 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring once about midway to ensure thorough cooking. Test for tenderness of cuffs at 45 minutes by piercing with a sharp knife. Cook additional time if necessary.
Remove from heat and drain in a colander, reserving the juice (pot likker). Chop collards with a collard chopper or a knife, leaving no large sleeves or pieces. Add some of the pot likker if the shirts are too dry. Salt to taste. Serve hot or at room temperature with your choice of toppings.
Apologies to the site with the real collard greens recipe

In other news ...
Maytag is reporting that the Austrailian hair care industry is marketing a product (Aussie Mega Shampoo) that recommends that American consumers lather, rinse, and repeat.

Amazingly enough, there are now robots that wash dishes and do the laundry. Science marches on!

Re:I DON'T RESIDE IN YOUR STATE SO YOU CAN'T TAX M
Bahama company tells US amazon.com to ship packages X,Y, and Z to your address. No tax and the buyer gets his stuff.
If I read cdnow.com's website correctly, they are located in Pennsylvania. I live in California but have to pay tax because they have a warehouse in California. In fact, most companies will collect tax in a state if they just have an office in that state, even if that office wasn't involved at all in the transaction. Do they have to collect that or are they just keeping the tax???
Tell your hypothetical amazon.com to look in to the purchase of a nice MayTag industrial washer. Laundering all that money is going to take a lot of work!
Also, just a note on tax fraud... it's nice until you get caught. At my last job, the FTB came in and decided to audit all our sales. Some of the sales droids had made the mistake of selling stuff tax free to anyone who claimed to have a reseller certificate or even worse, selling large amounts of hardware to companies with names like "Bob's Popcorn & Candy Distribution, Inc.". Equipment bought for internal use must be taxed so the natural assumption is "Bob" is trying to get stuff for his friends at a cheap price. The total penalties for the entire company were just over $1 mil. Ouch. Not good to happen around Christmas bonus time!
