Online newsagent scared by naming of footballer?
Similar to the trend list thing, here's another case of apparent censorship under fear. A newspaper identified one of the footballers, and that issue of the paper is missing from the online newsagent PressDisplay, even though PressDisplay is based in Canada, supposedly outside the reach of UK courts.

Twitter censors trend list due to super-injunction
Twitter now appears to be censoring its trend list, in the UK at least, to avoid drawing attention to a particular footballer who is being talked about a lot.

Safety
The safety issue really concerns me. I don't want people being forced by legislation to buy smaller, weaker cars, for city driving, because most people can only afford one car so they'll also be taking those same small, weak cars out on fast roads.
I'm a news photographer and I often attend accident scenes. As a rule, whenever there is an SUV involved, the occupants of the SUV survive and the occupants of the car _all_ die.
Renault Megane vs Range Rover. Both people in the Megane killed. Minor injuries in the Range Rover.

I'll need to rethink my lighting.
I'm a professional photographer and I've been using flash zoom, feathering etc for years to achieve this effect. Guess I won't be allowed to do that anymore without asking Apple for permission first?

Banks
ask customers' banks to refund them once the actual charges are refunded
Yes because banks are so courteous to their customers. -
iPhone will have hurt iPad sales
I blogged a little about this earlier. In summary I think Apple is about to get its just deserts. A lot of the iPad's target audience will be iPhone users, who have grown weary of Apple keeping their products locked down so tight, and the company's pervasive controlling attitude. That is likely to hurt iPad sales, which will in turn hurt newspaper and magazine publishers that would have been relying on the iPhone and iPad as vessels for content delivery. The whole situation is a terrible shame, and a good argument in favour of open companies and open products.
