To clarify further...
There's some controversy about the allegation.
The police originally classified it as a hate crime, then the press reported that it was downgraded it to aggrivated battery. The police report filed has surprisingly little information in it. The University Daily Kansas is reporting a clarification by the police that they aren't even classifying it as aggrivated battery.
Naturally, Dr. Mirecki is refusing to discuss it further.
There were no witnesses. The pickup truck was aggressively tailing him, so he stops, and when they get out (one with a metal pipe or such object), he gets out. In the middle of nowhere.
Not to make light of the tragedy if it acutally happened, but there's something not kosher about this tale.... -
Re:Many of them are also shameless racists
Funny you mention it, browsing some of the mentioned blogs, Michelle Malkin actually has a recent post addressing just this point (currently on her frontpage)

Gulfstream Liberalsyou get rich liberals like Teddy Kennedy blocking their construction because they would spoil the view from his luxurious oceanside compound.
The alcoholic murderer is just another example of the Gulfstream Liberal hypocrites, sneering down at flyover country from 35,000 feet, clucking their tongues at all those selfish SUV drivers below.
Teddy, his nephew RFK Jr., Michael Moore, Al Gore, Laurie David, Ariana Huffington, Barbara Streisand, and the list goes on and on and on. They live lives dripping with decadence and luxury. They live in 10,000 sq. ft. Malibu mansions with six or eight air conditioning subsystems. They go hither and yon in their Gulfstreams and Learjets. They drive around town in their limousines and Maybachs and S600 Mercs. I have two kids, but Al Gore has four, and the Kennedys breed useless mouths like rats. Their footprint on Mother Earth's limited resources is ten or twenty times my own. Yet these pampered hypocrites have the gall to criticize me for driving a Jeep? Fuck them. Fuck them hard.

A Long History of Bipartisan NeglectSetting aside for a moment the question of whether the Federal government should be in the business of providing intra-state flood control, any honest look at the history of Louisiana flood control projects show a long history of bipartisan neglect stretching back more than 30 years, none of which has to do with the war in Iraq or global warming:
- "June 1, 1999: Though Congress authorized West Jefferson to complete its levee projects in 1996, the state hasn't made matching money a priority the past three years because the weather "really didn't show us the potential dangers we had until the storms last year
... showed the seriousness of it," said Rep. John Alario, D-Westwego." - "February 17, 1995: An Army Corps of Engineers "hit list" of recommended budget cuts would eliminate new flood-control programs in some of the nation's most flood-prone spots - where recent disasters have left thousands homeless and cost the federal government millions in emergency aid. Clinton administration officials argue that the flood-control efforts are local projects, not national, and should be paid for by local taxes. Nationwide, the administration proposes cutting 98 new projects in 35 states and Puerto Rico, for an estimated savings of $29 million in 1996."

Re:The "How To Destroy Your HD" ThreadSounds like one of those "Build a nuclear bomb" anarchy bullshit articles.
I've criticized the technical merits of some of those... especially when Malkin started blogging about one appearing on some Arab nutjob site, and various other idiots started being even stupider. I had three years majoring in nuclear engineering, prior to dropping out from loss of interest — all of the really interesting problems left in the field are political, and was getting depressed by constantly looking at that aspect.
I could do a better job describing how to build a nuke; my playing around with conventional explosives is pretty limited.
I'm not sure how you'd actually rig the primer for such a Kaboom bay; when my freinds played with thermite a few times, we mostly used a thin magnesium strip sticking out of a wad of strike-anywhere matches, with another match at the end pointing the other way for a fuse. And the folks talking about water dissociation may be right; we mostly worked on an ex-building's concrete slab foundation... which we ruined even more. A concrete slab is often not conveniently close in many apartment buildings — just inconveniently accessible. =)

Surely, you're joking.
That's without counting the sea of online polemics & punditry which are, primarily, dedicated to watching and critiquing liberals and liberalism (and occasionally promoting conservatism). Look at Michelle Malkin's blogroll. It's a strange and magical journey of links that, literally, does not end. Truly liberal print polemicism is essentially missing from the online market when compared with Horowitz, Hitchens, TNR, etc... the most stridently anti-conservative polemics come from friggin' libertarians these days. As for the blogosphere and citizen pundits, check out Kos et al. and you'll hit a dead end in terms of organization and persistence. Whether you're liberal or conservative, you're simply off the mark if you believe that American liberals are not completely outgunned in terms of strength of internet presence.

Move On!
These guys put out papers and postions that soon after will appear on republican talking points all over the media.
Give it a break! It's depressing that people just do not read, and end up blathering away in support of those they believe they oppose. And if you're referring to the latest main stream media forged documents, then you're really lost.
The IMF is mostly liberal in composition, as is any of the UN organizations, the CFR and countless other institutes (not "institutions" sic - one has to earn the right to be regarded as an institution, not self-declare like Ken Brown does) that do nothing but spend peoples money studying and pontificating.
Likewise, CIA, Dept. of State and countless other Federal departments are also as liberal as the news media in the US. To the point that being anything but a registered Democrat is a highly unwise career move. Anybody who has family members in these departments or works with them in business can verify this for you.
Microsoft's Democratic lobbying front, ADTI, is an exceptional example of relativism at work. Redefinition of open source, theft of other peoples hard work (under the guise of corporate redistribution, which is a progressive concept regardless of who the thief is and who is his victim), intellectual dishonesty and downright fraud and misrepresentation are all marks of a good progressive.
So please... unless you want to digress into useless political flamefests, just leave the political aspect alone. Those of us who actually read and trace where organizations get their funding know Ken Brown is:
1. a fraud without the credentials he claims. ken brown is a product of schools that teach high self esteem to low ability children. combine that with sociopathic tendencies and you have a perfect shill.
2. a leftist prostitute for Microsoft. shareholders, do your research. mr. brown's connections indicate it is time to run, not walk, from your microsoft stock.
3. only out there to push bogus PR to other leftists in the news media that are to fscking lazy to check their facts (about 90%, unfortunately)
Don't take my word for it. Do your own research or be a lazy-assed progressive parasite. -
What I find amusing and disturbing
What I find amusing and disturbing is how Google accepts any crazy left-wing website for its Google News page (see Democratic Underground), but often refuses conservative sites like LGF and Powerline for various bizarre reasons (for instance, Google claims the sites they list in Google News must have a staff of more than one person...yet they list several left-wing websites that are one-person blogs). See here and here.
They also refused gun ads in their results, but allowed all those phoney Internet pharmacies to advertise, where any kid wanting to get doped up could get some shipped in the mail.
Just saying. If you want more information, see here. To be perfectly fair, there are plenty of sites claiming Google News is conservative-biased. You can make up your own mind. -
meme is spreading.
This article is getting a lot of play in the blogosphere.

Either that'll die out in a day or two, or build into a firestorm that makes the major media.
Last time this happened in 99, it led to a round of FEC inquiry and public comment. This time it may give some legs to the first amendment restoration act, or other congressional action, or more litigation. I said above that Shays was on appeal but that seems to be wrong, at least for this part of the suit. Any one of us could have intervened in the suit and filed an appeal once the FEC deadlocked and did not appeal. But we didn't. I'd welcome hearing from anybody who wants to work constructively on the issue of protecting anonymous internet political speech. -

You forgot one...Then they came for anyone who reported potential terrorist activity...
Apparently, they arrested the 'anonymous' tipster who told them about the four chinese illegals entering the country. Jose Ernesto Beltran Quinones was detained by Mexican authorities, and the FBI wants to extradite him. Why? Because he informed the 'good guys' about a plot to smuggle Chinese illegals into the country. Illegals he said planned to set off a dirty bomb made of nuclear oxides.
Chinese illegals are being deported after being forced down in the plane smuggling them through Texas. Guess who co-owns the plane? Afzal Hameed, president of a flight school that caters to Saudi Arabian flight students. You can read about some of their clientele here. However, no dirty bombs were found.
(More details available over at Michelle Malkin's blog.)
The moral of the story? Unless you're the President of the United States, you're in deep shit if they don't find the WMDs... But I'm not saying anything, because I don't know about any terrorist activity.

Re:Superceded
Well, I have been stationed is Southern Iraq for almost 8 months now. Everyday I get an intelligence brief that tells me what has happened in the last 24 hours. If you think that for a minute that Basra and other Brit areas have been immune from the attacks that occur US controlled areas you see on the news, you need stop believing everything you hear in the very liberal, very biased media. AIF (Anti Iraqi Forces) and other insurgents strike the British Forces daily. Almost every day there is rocket or mortar attack against coalition positions like the Cimic house. And everyday the British hunker down and try to track the POO (Point of Origin) of the attack. US citizens don't ever see those reports because the liberal media knows that reporting attacks against other coalition forces does not support the picture that they are trying to paint, the picture that nobody wants us here. Check out this letter from a US Army Captain (no its not me).

Do not believe what you see or hear on TV. And don't spout off unless you have been here. Weather it is Fox or CNN, liberal or conservative, the media is bullshit. I made the mistake of talking to a reporter once. She had an agenda (and a nice rack which is the only reason I talked to her and probably why she was picked to interview soldiers) and after reading the article, wondered how she could misconstrue what I said. I finally realize that she just writes what she wants to and uses soldier's names in her articles to boost her credibility.
When I deployed overseas, my family and friends told me to be careful and "keep my head down". Now I realize it is not the Iraqi people or the insurgents I need to worry about, it is the media.

I'm a daily blog-hound, and blogger
My favorite blog list has been expanding, lately. I regularly read InstaPundit and The Right Coast, among others. I've recently begun reading Powerline and Michelle Malkin. My favorite "political" blogs, though, are actually economics blogs. I can't let a day go by without checking Marginal Revolution and The Volokh Conspiracy, which are two of the most interesting blogs I've read since I started reading Slashdot.
In addition to all of that, I read a wide variety of news sites every day, listen to news radio and watch news in the morning. That's all so I can do a better job in the writing on my own blog, where I cover politics, amateur radio, life, and anything I think is cool. Check out Lockjaw's Lair and don't forget to buy the T-Shirt.

Don't forget MSNBC
Chris Matthews, who was a former Carter speechwriter, seems to drop his neutrality from time to time in his unabashed support of Kerry. A month ago he brought Michelle Malkin on his show to promote her book, and then brow-beat her about claims in John O'Neill's book, Unfit for Command. It came out during the interview that Matthews hadn't even read O'Neill's book and didn't understand the charge he was attacking, but he bounced Malkin off the show, anyway, and Keith Olbermann said she made a fool of herself. He never gave her the chance to promote her book, the whole reason she agreed to the interview.
Then, right after Zell Miller's rousing speech at the Republican Convention, Matthews attempted to browbeat and filibuster Zell Miller. Fortunately, Miller the career politician didn't lie down and take Matthews's attempts to obfuscate the message. -
