    Even if that is true (and I am not saying it is) it has lead to a host of his other accounts being compromised.

    Hardly nothing to see, it is actually quite big. One of the bitcoin download sites (SourceForge) was compromised;-

    Bitcoin's public/private key system avoids the issue all together.

    With a credit card when you hand over your plastic you have effectively just handed over you private key for someone to copy with a magnetic strip reader, a photocopier or even something as old school like a pen and paper.

    Of course, if BitCoin was really legit and stable, why would they be selling those machines in the first place when they could just farm BC, swap it for dollars, buy more machines, lather, rinse, and repeat?

    Well since the number of companies producing ASICs are limited, yes, it has been considered.

    The reason? Nobody else was shipping ASIC units. Each one released to the market lowers the value of them all, but only Avalon had any, and so the scenario is as you describe. That does not hold true now.

    This also doesn't include any '"testing" period said machines may go through before they are shipped :)

    Is it a strange coincidence that this news comes out around the time of the next fork? http://mineforeman.com/2013/05/13/last-forking-warning/ Is there some evil government conspiracy going on to bring bitcoin down, or is it perhaps some kind of "crash and cash" scheme, or can i leave my tinfoil hat at home?
