Re:I welcome...
I have a Mobiblu DAH-1500i Cube that I'm happy with:

It requires no software at all (although it does require a special cable). Behaves like a thumb drive, so you can simply drag and drop files into it, and create folders however you like. -
Re:Summary: Creative says "Waaaaaaaah"It is truly about marketing. I have had an awsome little Mobiblu Cube for about a year, and get gawks and questions from at least 2 people on the subway a day. No one had seen it before, although walmart had a licensing agreement to sell them in the states. The features and price rock, as does the design
One thing that apple does have together though is the intergration with itunes. Having podcasts subscribe and download automatically is sweet.

Re:OEM (&Aftermarket) Car integration
Most cars that offer integration with ipod players actually integrate with any USB mass storage device. They just advertise ipod compatibility as ipod has about 80% market share. Cars don't provide you with the ipods user interface and since it is generally stuffed in a draw its looks don't matter much either in this situation.
I bought a Q-BE (I think they are called Mobiblue or some such in the states). Its smaller, lighter, cheaper, has a longer lasting battery and better sound quality than the ipod nano. Its not in bondage to itunes, has no DRM and more importantly its interesting. People ask about it.

MobiBlu
No mention of the MobiBlu cube player? I got one and I love it, has FM and voice recording and equalizer, not to mention SRS WOW and an OLED screen. It's tiny and and the only clue people have that it's some kind of player is the headphones, and they come over and ask about it. Everyone is amazed by how small it is.

Why in blazes is Dell even doing this?
Why on earth is Dell even bothering to do this? They're trying to enter a market that's already flooded. Between Apple and Creative, the $99 MP3 player market is pretty much taken care of.
When it comes to style, though, I still prefer my MobiBlu Cube. It has everything that this new Dell unit offers plus 7.5 hours of voice recording. Dell's product looks like most of the other MP3 players out there, so the only thing to differentiate this from the competition is the name. Sounds a lot like when Carly left HP, she and her goofy ideas went over to Dell.
Hmmm... were she and Michael Dell possibly...? Nahhhhh.... -
Re:Voice narration?
From the recent article here at Slashdot, I believe the mobiBLU cube does act as a removable USB storage device, without needing special software. http://www.mobibluamerica.com/dah1500.html

Xenn mp3 player
I was in Bangkok about two weeks ago and they were selling the Xenn XM-5, which bears a striking resemblance to the mobiBLUE DAH-1500.
