Re:Uh...
A for Anti-trust or M for Monopolistic behavior.
Google Search is a Google service. There's nothing illegal about cross-selling your own products. Furthermore, they are not an ISP held to common-carrier laws when it comes to content. They could close their ad network to all competitors, much like Apple does not stock products in their retail stores from certain companies they are in legal disagreements with.
People are free to use Bing or some other search engine if they don't like the (lack of) results.
Did you REALLY post that in response to a comment that uses a form of the word "monopoly"?!?!!?
I doubt I've ever seen a better example of "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than it is to talk and remove all doubt."

Re:Define "work"
I wish someone was selling a continuous blood pressure meter.
Someone was working on it last year but who knows if they actually got anywhere.

There's an app for that
The secure medical device market is heating up. It's why BlackBerry bought into NantHealth and partnered with them to deliver a secure mobile monitoring service.

Re:BlackBerry is fine
Ah...but the killer feature BlackBerry brought to QNX is BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) connectivity. BlackBerry was never a mobile handset company. They were always a mobile communications company that sold two way pagers / phones. You see, BlackBerry has an international network in place. It's no longer needed to support their phones so it is being re-purposed to allow encrypted communication between all those QNX devices out there and a companies BES. Each QNX device connected means a license and each BES means a service agreement. If you bother to look at everything QNX is already running (Cisco network equipment, industrial automation [SCADA] equipment, medical electronics, and over 50% of the automobiles made today) you might begin to understand just how well positioned BlackBerry is to take advantage of the IoT. Earlier this year BlackBerry invested heavily in NantHealth and today they announced the HBox gen 2. A health monitoring device that will send its data in real-time back to the doctor via a BES. That's a potentially huge market.

Re:General health
I've been trying to monitor my sleep quality and recently discovered this totally cool product: http://mobihealthnews.com/14561/bam-lab-mattress-monitor-for-heart-rate-sleep-apnea/
It seems almost too good to be true. Unfortunately they do not sell to individuals and would not provide any pricing or purchasing info to me. Maybe a competitor will pop up to serve the individual purchaser market. Since they currently only sell to health care institutions, I imagine they charge a lot, but the device seems very simple: an air matress connected to a pressure sensor, with a circuit board and embedded software to monitor and analyse the sensor data and to communicate with a PC. -
Re:For the love of God, shut the fuck up!
Absolutely wrong. You're very misinformed.

Google around, you'll find a million similar cases. Developers hear that their apps will be fine, and then at the last minute they are denied and not told why. It takes them alot of calling and emails to Apple and takes months before they can even find out why. -
Protruding antenna
What happened to cellphones with protruding antenna? Other than having it jab me in the crotch when I put the phone in my pocket I never had an issue with such a phone.

And as my failing memory serves, the signal was consistently better.

other medical monitors Now out and coming soon
This is old news, and just a variation on a theme -
As somebody who does this sort of stuff for a living - now they need to get around the IEC-60601 compliance and the FDA before they could introduce it in the USA.

Something similar is in the works for hospital use:

That goes out over WiFi inside a hospital.
Also - Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) is designed for this application and there are a bunch of "health monitors either int the works, or already out there for this:

Now if you want exciting - research into electronic eyes, electronic ears and neural pacemaker for people with epilepsy are kind of interesting. Google them and you will find them.
