Re:You can use the Vista boot loader
All of that was all arbitrary "fuck-you" coding style anyways, and it should have been written flexibly from the start, like Grub.
Why would a company that makes it's bread and butter off it's operating system take time to code support for alternative operating system's in their boot loader??? The fact of the matter is as a prior post pointed out simply use the windows boot loader can make things much easier. Boot.ini is right there a C:\

Re:This has always been possible
Okay, so that link was the opposite of what I claimed, but this one describes the right process.

Re:dual boot?
The thing is that unlike the Windows' MBR, grub can actually be configured to run the other OS if the user wants. Most distros autodetect and add the appropriate configs, so that there's zero effort needed.
Both of my work machines dual-boot, and it's the NT bootloader that comes up first. I've never bothered figuring out how to go from GRUB into WinXP; instead, I just install GRUB to a boot sector, dd it from the boot sector to a file, and copy that file into the Windows partition. A one-line change to boot.ini tells the NT bootloader to hand off to GRUB. This page describes it in more detail (using LILO, but GRUB isn't much different).

Re:Installing Windows on your Linux boxIf you really feel insane, you can get the Windows NT bootloader to boot Linux.
How to dual-boot Windows NT/2000/XP with Linux using NTLDR
You should be able to set up Linux without needing a boot disk, although I would really, really, really recommend against trying it.

Re:Yes, but why no APM
Eh? Works fine for me without anything special at all.
What they are refering to is laptop style suspend-to-memory features. However, with a simple 1 character source patch to the nvidia driver everything works fine.
I'm currently using my Dell C840 laptop with GeForce4. Suspend, AGP, everything works. See (suspend to RAM): http://jaeger.morpheus.net/linux/c840
