MITM from day one breaks key continuity management
However, much of the time your main concern is that the certificate isn't an MiTM, and that you are talking to the same person or entity you were talking to previously.
That's called the "key continuity management" paradigm. But KCM breaks down if the first time you talk to someone happens to be through a man in the middle. If your Internet connection is through a MITM proxy, as seen in bug 460374 and in many corporate networks, then "the same person or entity you were talking to previously" would be the MITM. For this reason, even though SSH is most often used in KCM mode, the "Please answer yes or no" prompt urges the user to confirm the server's key fingerprint out of band.

Re:That's one way to look at it
another way is to say that automakers are shifting their costs. Dirty air and smog lead to lung disease and cancer, ergo higher medical costs. The health problems also lower worker productivity.
Why should I have to pay for the damage done by cheap cars?

Hi! I make Firefox Plug-ins. Check 'em out @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-...Browser plug-in software makes people spend more time at their computers becoming sedentary and isolated, leading to health problems , ergo higher medical costs. The health problems also lower worker productivity.
Why should I have to pay for the damage done by browser plug-ins?
Cars are a requirement to get to work and to get paid for most people. Getting paid is necessary to live. Therefore for all practical purposes car use is required to live, but car pollution is not required. It just costs more to avoid it. By using non polluting cars the total cost to society is reduced by the drop in pollution, while the individual cost is increased. The question is, whether or not people would rather pay with hospital bills and shorter lives or simply pay more for their car. Of course, since it is a form of gambling, most people will gamble it won't affect them or correctly conclude that just one more car won't matter much. Still, the purpose of government is to take a longer term view, hence some focus on electric vehicles makes sense. The argument that internet plugins cause people a reduction in their health may be technically true, but then people can choose to get exercise regardless. They can't practically choose to stop driving. For a similar reason I'm trying to buy a house in a less polluted area that is closer to work...

I asked Wladimir Palant of AdBlock a question
By email if "Almost All Ads Blocked" does these things (after he emailed 1st stating "hosts are a shitty solution"):
---
1.) Block malware/malscripted sites (not just adbanners with bad code)
2.) Block out Known sites-servers/hosts-domains that are known to serve up malware (especially "fastflux" types, the predominant design that uses host-domain names vs. IP addresses (far easier to 'kill' in the latter is why)).
3.) Block Bogus DNS servers malware makers use (via fastflux + rogue DNS servers).
4.) Block Botnet C&C servers.
5.) Block known PHISHERS.
6.) Block TRACKERS.
7.) Block SPAMMERS.
8.) Get you back speed/bandwidth you paid for by blocking adbanners + hardcoding your favorite sites (faster than remote DNS server resolution).
9.) Add reliability (vs. downed or misdirect/poisoned DNS servers - since most are NOT patched vs. the Kaminsky flaw).
10.) Add "anonymity" (to an extent, vs. DNS request logs).
11.) The ability to bypass DNSBL's (DNS block lists you may not agree with).
12.) Truly UNIVERSAL PROTECTION (since any OS, even on smartphones, usually has a BSD derived IP stack & hosts 99.999% of the time).
13.) Faster & MORE EFFICIENT operation vs. browser plugins https://blog.mozilla.org/nneth...
14.) Custom hosts files work on ANY & ALL webbound apps (browser plugins do not).
15.) Custom hosts files offer a better, faster, more efficient way, & safer way to surf the web & are COMPLETELY controlled by the end-user of them WITHOUT having to know regexp.---
* Can you tell me WHY he refuses to reply?
(He knows that if he admits hosts are more versatile, superior, & efficient than AdBlock - he's done: ClarityRay's going to assure that anyhow)
APK
P.S.=> Palant also said "You're ignoring facts"? Please - His reasoning's flawed!
AdBlock or any browser addon doesn't do a FRACTION of what hosts can in added speed, security, reliability, or anonymity vs. APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ 32/64-bit -> http://start64.com/index.php?o... )!

Right - hosts are EASIER to manage
Simple textfile format of IPAddressIspace)hostname vs. regular expressions complexity, and hosts certainly do a BETTER JOB of resource usage than AdBlock https://blog.mozilla.org/nneth...
* I've LITERALLY taught a nigh-compiuter illiterate pal of mine how they work - even HE says they're easy (GED highschool education level on his end)...
Also - My program gets its hosts file data from 12 reputable & reliable sources in the security community online (e.g. -> MVPS or MalwareBytes' HpHosts for example).
APK
P.S.=> That's just pure fact... apk

Despite your testing error
http://it.slashdot.org/comment... what you saw is a HUGE margin less than AdBlock eating 5gb of RAM & tearing up CPU terribly -> https://blog.mozilla.org/nneth... by way of comparison.
APK
P.S.=> I still don't believe you used my program, since it tells you (no matter what way you go to do it on SAVE) to turn off usermode slow faulty with large hosts files dnscache service (and gives you the services.msc tool to do it directly)... apk

I asked AdBlock's Wladimir Palant a question

I asked Wladimir Palant a question

I'm not remotely interested in Chrome, but I want to see what's in store for Firefox about 2 releases from now.
this is clearly a joke....but if you actually want to see whats in store for firefox 'about 2 releases from now' just start using the firefox Nightly branch:
