Re:Sun laptop? Isn't that an oxymoron?
Well, sun didn't design the laptops they offer. They are just reselling existing products from naturetech and Tadpole, both of which have offered SPARC based notebooks for years (more than a decade in case of Tadpole). While their CPUs may not be fast compared to currtent x86 Laptops, the hardware is pretty solid and size an weight are comparable to common x86 notebooks.
Additionally, SUN has actually built a portable system back in the days of the microSPARC II CPUs, which probably wasn't too bad, and nowhere near the size and weight of a E450 - probably more like a SparcStation 5 with a LCD strapped on the top. -
Re:we have been using sun laptops
A SPARC laptop runing Solaris is not new, neither would running Solaris on an x86 laptop be new. Both http://www.tadpolecomputer.com/ and http://www.naturetech.com.tw/_page/index.html have been offering SPARC based laptops for quite a while and any x86 laptop on Sun's hardware compatibility list http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/ can run Solaris x86. What's news is this is the first time I have seen Sun offer a first party solution for laptops that get the same service and support offerings Sun provides for their servers and workstations.

Re:Stupid 1GB memory limit
You need one of these
Mmmm....4GB of RAM in a 64-bit laptop... -
Why Tadpole?
Why buy an monster tadpole that isn't available when you could buy a naturetech that is cheaper, smaller and better looking?

Re:Amazing!
The correct URL for Naturetech is http://www.naturetech.com.tw/.
Disclaimer: I work at Sun and Naturetech is our customer. -
Re:Amazing!
Pretty funny! Interesting that they couldn't find NatureTech's real homepage

Re:hmmHow else are you going to easily show %customer% your product without lugging around a Blade 100 everywhere?
By lugging around a Blade 100 in a laptop case instead.
Had to get this in before midnight

Devil's Advocate: The Purposes of the Crap
(Lemme open up by saying I may or may not agree with what I am about to say. This sort of duplicity makes me an excellent candidate for political office.)
So far, I've seen the Burger King glasses, the action figures, a great many re-published copies of the book with the movie as the cover. I've seen the board game, the cartoon, the ten-minute TNT blip, the one-hour Sci-Fi blip. The bedsheets are on order at my local K-Mart, the costumes are being put on back-order, the card game is selling briskly, and the pornographic feature based upon the film is in high demand at the local adult bookstore.
All this stuff (with the possible exception of the porno) goes to help defray the insanely high intial costs of the trilogy. Keep in mind, for those of you who've been living in a cave since, oh, the last millenium, that they a) shot all three films at once and therefor WILL be released; b) they cost a LOT of money. If you think that $6000 for a Microsoft-proof laptop is a painful yet fun investment, think that the studio coughs up mega-million dollar budgets with shocking regularity. In fact, I'm torn on whether the casinos or Hollywood are the folks to duplicate for the handling of insanely large quantities of cash.
The crap has a double purpose. It gets people Movie Stuff, and simultaneously promotes the film.
