San Mehat On Web Services & .Net
A reader writes: "There's an interview with San Mehat in regards to .Net & Webservices. He has some interesting comments about what will work and what won't work, and where things are going." San is well known for his Netwinder work, as well as being a good DJ. And, in the interest of full disclosure, San does work for VA Software, the parent company of OSDN, as is DevChannel. -

Vic writes "The Ottawa Business Journal is reporting that a new company, Netwinder Inc., is being started to resurrect the Netwinder project. In case you don't remember, this was a small linux-based server appliance started by Corel Computer, which died when Rebel.com went under. See also the National Post article." -

Intel working on new StrongArm designs, after all
In what may prove a significant blow to low cost x86 manufacturers and embedded processor developers such as MIPS, Intel has been working on a ARM 110 and media DSP combination, code named StrongArm 1500. This is also good for Corel Computer's Netwinder. In related news, the price of copper manufacturing is higher than expected. A good round up of the last two weeks events can be read at C'T. -
NetBSD Gains USB Support
The NetBSD Project claims to be "first to support USB". They have a keyboard driver, a mouse driver, a printer driver, and more all done! Congrats, guys! USB sounds like something really cool - perhaps the NetWinder folks at CCC should take note! Now, let's get hacking on those Linux drivers! -

Dave Whitinger (of Threepoint fame) wrote in to warn us about his Low Bandwidth News List. 1 message/day like 0xdeadbeef. Christopher Gutteridge sent us the nuttiest thing I've seen in some time: The Visible Mars Bar Project is one of the coolest pages I've seen in awhile. Nate and I were gonna do a Bananna awhile back, but just never got around to it. Definately worth a gander if you're familiar with the visible human project.
