Re:Here's the interesting paragraph
It should be noted that the BBC is an interested party in the referendum (the first "B" gives it away). There have been protests outside the BBC offices in Glasgow because of their support for the union (even though Scottish public have to mandatory pay for the BBC if they watch TV). The BBC takes a very pro-union stance (or vote "no" stance if you prefer) so please take that into account when reading or watching BBC coverage of #indyref
BBC Scotland viewers get an assault of fear stories from Better Together campaign every day on the BBC with little or no attempt to provide the other side of the story. The BBC tried to coverup and bully an academic study into bias that proved that BBC Scotland were not following their own guidance on #indyref coverage.

Re:And why not ?
you can get married at all sorts of locations in Scotland - some really cool like the vaults under Edinburgh and in all sorts of buildings. As it happens we got married at Stirling Castle and had full run of the place which was a great laugh, she didn't like the idea of getting wedding photos straddling the huge cannons. I thought it would be funny. she not.
You may be aware - Scotland is due to have a referendum in 2014 to become an independent country and leave the rest of the UK. Whilst Scotland has it's own parliament and is a "country" - it is still controlled by a "union of parliaments" by Westminster, London. If Scotland votes yes then Scotland will be able to finance herself and make her own decisions. One of the key plans is to have a written constitution, although we helped write the USA's constitution, we were never allowed to have one by the UK. Scottish attitudes towards the human rights convention and the EU in general are quite different to that of the UK.
It is worth noting that there is a massive campaign of hate from the Unionist (i.e. "British") entities in Scotland which includes the state broadcaster. Scotland gets endless documentaries on "why Britain is great" etc and the BBC is heavily biased towards the Union.

Re:UK and TV rader? LOL
um... again i live in a wee bit of a Valley next to Holyrood Park in Edinburgh.. the Salisbury Crags and Arthurs seat used to bugger the reception... not any more.
All those channels, as i said are shit, not that the originals were generally much better to be frank and under 10 of them on terrestrial are +1 channels
i only mentioned satellite in respect of channel numbers and not in reference to this technique for radar
Also the digital switchover finished last year i believe
as for quality.. it's all just shit really.... repeats are endemic due to the rolling 3 hour/4 hour block schedules many of those channels keep.. just shite.. however the TV is for the kids so.. meh, can't complain as i rarely watch these days
As for the BBC it's about to be in deeper financial crisis when it has to pay out over the various scandals including covering up institutional paedophilia with regards to Jimmy Savile and friends, fuck knows they get enough in from the license fees at £140 a year the conning bastards.. the only decent things about the BBC is no adverts as their coverage of Scottish issues is pretty fucking dire at the best of times but leading up to the Scottish Independence referendum they have openly stated they don't have to be balanced in reporting the independence debate which kinda fucks with their alleged reputation for impartiality.. so erm.. fuck the BBC really -
Jimmie McAlpine
The Telegraph on Friday have made accusations that Lord McAlpine's brother (who ran the huge building company) lived close by the care home and had a huge collection of expensive cars (noted by witnesses at the time). There are some theories that this was a simple mix-up by a key journalist/the police and fingered (bad expression) the wrong brother which has now caused the BBC to go into melt-down.
What's odd is that The Telepgraph published another article which seems to downplay the idea that Jimmie was in any way involved.
I wonder whether this is an orchestrated plot to reduce the power of the very-Labour-focussed BBC by the government (Conservative/liberal coalition) which will also play well for Scotland (led by the SNP) that has it's own BBC problems etc

Re:The onion that will change the world
The BBC are hardly any better. Whilst the BBC for generations has had a good reputation - in Scotland, the BBC are showing themselves to be a state broadcaster and at every opportunity take the unionist cause (which incidently is way off their charter). Over the last year, Scots have been subjected to TV shows about "how good it is to be British" and "why the UK is great for Scotland" which are not shown south of the border.
They have been cutting back coverage of the Scottish referendum for independence and have been accused of dirty tricks and biased reporting in the lead up to the 2014 referendum.
It's incredible since the BBC is also paid for by Scots (though a mandatory tax called the TV Licence). Scotland is hoping to be the first country to become independent without a drop of blood being spilt.

Re:Unfortunately, UK has become Uncle Sam's lapdog
oh, CHILL THE FARK OUT.
they can't change their country any more than we can.
we're both fucked.
the brits are basically good people but they have totally lost control over their gov.
well, this has not gone unnoticed within the UK. The very fabric of the UK is at risk because the "Kingdom of Scotland" (one of the united kingdoms) has a growing independence movement; in fact, it has grown so much that Scotland's devolved parliament currently has a majority pro-independence government - something that the UK government had tried to avoid ever happening. The cracks are appearing and the approach that the UK government is taking does not sit well with some cultures within the UK. The Scottish Governament very quite pissed off when it was found that the UK Government allowed redention flights to refuel at Prestwick without telling anyone.
I just wish Wikileaks had more information about the oppresive anti-independence movement that the UK, it's broadcaster and other quasi-governmental organisations are inflicting on Scotland. e.g. the BBC in Scotland shows endless documentaries about why being British is good etc that are not shown anywhere else in the union. See this A to Z of the propaganda that is inflicted on the Scots...

Re:I kind of like the idea of UK being a test
Your arrogance and guinea piggery aside, Scotland is making good progress towards its goal of 100% renewable energy from the wind, hydro, tidal and wave resources it has available. Indirectly this is of global benefit, but it's primarily for the benefit of Scotland, not 'Murica. The Westminster Government on the other hand seems to be struggling to get anyone to build new nuclear stations in England (the Scottish Government will not give permission for nuclear and in any case, Westminster doesn't like paying for infrastructure outside of the South East of England).

Re:Erosion of the Commons
England is a country that shares a border to the south of Scotland. Scotland has an entirely different legal system. A lot of people get confused by this (recently seen during the release of Al-Meghrahi).
It's worth noting that the union between the four countries of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland is been the source of much turmoil in politics as the country of England has a much higher population than the other countries. The current government in Scotland is a pro-nationalist (i.e. would like separation from the union) and is set to take the country to vote in 2012 about whether to remain in the union, change the balance of devolved powers or indeed leave union completely. The Scottish government currently has limited devolved powers that include the judicial system and policing. They have to balance their books from budgets assigned by Westminter (unlike England, that can publicly borrow)
e.g. the latest Police and Criminal Justice act was passed by Holyrood, but not by westminster. The Human Rights act was passed by Scotland, but not in England & Wales until many years later.

Re:The future... Is it utopian or dystopian?
It's Britain not Briton btw.
It wasn't Britain, it was specifically England. Of the countries that make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; only England had riots. There has been a bit of a political strop in Scotland because Scotland relies on tourists at this time of the year (Edinburgh Festival, Military Tattoo etc) and there was worry that many would cancel or not come thinking that the riots extended over the border.

Re:British and Oysters
chrisq.. keep on believing that delusion..lol
Scotland when taken as separate from the UK is actually in surplus you muppet
Scotland contributes more than DOUBLE what it gets back from the union.. some fucking union dividend eh?
i think you'll fidn tat per capita london gets most spent on it, followed by northern Ireland followed by Scotland.
mind you westminster takes ALL OUR OIL AND GAS REVENUE and we get a pittance back.
the money that whisky sales generate is also quite astonishing and contrary to popular belief most of it goes to export.
I would hazard a guess Andrew Hughes Hallet knows more about economics that you in your blissful ignorance
Then there's the McCrone report which was done and kept secret as it showed that Scotland would be "embarrassingly in surplus if independent with one of the strongest currencies in Europe"
there is much more besides however i would imagine a lazy tool such as yourself would rather live in that blissful ignorance you seem to be so fond of, as many south of the border are.
Also a lot of the oil in OUR territorial waters are marked as "extra regio territories" to mask the actual oil income as "not Scottish"..
have a look at oilofscotland.org and maybe you might learn something about teh fact SCOTLAND IS IN SURPLUS and t's the "uk2 that's dragging us into financial shit.. plain simple fact.. however you would rather just call us "porridge wogs" which just futher demostrates how truly ignorance you are .. sad wee Sasainach eh?
Saora no Bas!
