AP: Bush seeks to root out "Evil Bit"Washington -
President George Bush is meeting this meeting with high-level Cabinet members, Pentagon advisors, and the corpse of Dick Cheney to develop a battle plan against the so-called "Evil Bit" developed by the nefarious organization known as "IETF", White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said today.
Fleischer said "We know this IETF has RFC's, and they plan to use the RFC's against the American people". When a reporter from the New York Times (free registration all day 4/1!!) stated that the IETF was the Internet Engineering Task Force, a standards body for the Internet, Fleischer gave a slideshow depicting the IETF's True Secret Agenda: a plot against Freedom and Democracy.
When the Times reporter asked CIA director George Tenet about the slideshow, Tenet exclaimed
"What the fuck is wrong with those idiots? The CIA is the organization from which the President receives his intelligence information, and we have never heard of such a ridiculous plot. [Bush] pulled this same shit two months ago with the 'proof' that Iraqi had nukes, which turned out to be something scrawled by a 10th-grader. Fuck this bullshit! I quit!"
The President will address the nation this evening at 8:00 p.m. on all major networks.

Ever seen the "Corrections" section of a newspaper
My theory is that the difference between Slashdot and other media is that they never correct themselves, no matter how inaccurate, so readers are left with a false picture of accuracy.
So...is /. going to print a retraction of this obviously false statement? -
This NarcoNews case was being watchedWow, this is great news. FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting) did a big piece on NarcoNews and the Banamex scandal recently. Unfortunately the story / interview doesn't seem to be up on the FAIR web site.
Search Google for the relevant keywords for more information, particularly since the Grey Lady was also a target of Mr. Giordano's investigative talents, and thus they're not likely to give it the coverage it deserves

here's what I don't get...
If the music industry is losing sooooo much money to people pirating music, then why do all the big newspapers GIVE AWAY their news stories on their websites?
Ever heard of:
The Detroit News (My hometown rag)
The London Times
The New York Times
USA Today
The L.A. Times
The Boston Globe
The list goes on and on.
It's obvious to me that these newspapers are generating their own revenue by advertising themselves. Music artists have it easy because the LISTENERS do most of the promotions when they rip/encode to MP3!!!
IMHO, this whole napster thing looks like one ingenious publicity stunt to sell MORE records.
