How about Windows 95?
Seriously, I have some old Win95 (version a) disks that I installed on a old Pentium 60MHz for a needy kid I knew going to college. It ran reasonably well and I installed Office 97 as well (word and excel only).
Win 95 a came on 13 floppies but needed a decent amount of upgrading online.
Win 98 would install fine too on a P-100 as well as NT.
If you want to go really small and just use 2 disks you could always run 2-Disk Xwindow Linux and hard code /dev/hda1 to swap and /dev/hda2 to /home
If the floppies die just give'em some more. No install whatsoever. -
Sounds just below the usable range...
A few megs of HD and 4MB RAM? A 486 is enough to do X, but you'll want to have at least 8 megs of RAM, and you would really benefit from having 16 or even 32 MB. Furthermore, though you may be able to fit an X installation on a HD of just a few megs (see 2diskxwin, Small Linux), I don't think you'll be able to do much of use with it unless you have a hard drive which is at least 30 MB or so.
I personally don't have any experience trying to use X in an installation smaller than 120 MB. If you can get this much, you might try doing what I did: install the latest ZipSlack, then move it to ext2 and add X. -

Dear Sir
It will take me many months to purge the memory of this girl. As such, I demand renumeration ; 100,000 Euro in unmarked bills, sent to Post Office Box 621, Helsinki, Finland.

EXCEL SAMPLESample from Excel (Largish file ~300K)
This is especially easy to understand, presumably as it doesn't have to worry about the average user wanting text to look exactly as it did on his screen.
Same as before, some browsers should format the xml source nicely. If not, this source is neatly indented so 'View Source' and you'll still get it pretty-printed.
Oh, thanks to twistedemotions for sending me this stuff.

MIRROR: Original XMLI've mirrored the actual xml file that has not been mutilated by slashcode policies.
Look here using a browser that will display the raw xml nicely formatted - IE works fine, supposedly Mozilla does too but I can't seem to get it to work; it parses the file and just displays the text.
Shame this is all so hidden away in the story.

Re:Convince MeThe only thing missing that I need is cookie blacklists. But IE doesn't have that either
Oh, really? Looks like it has blacklists and whitelists. Although you can see I don't bother with them.

UK has plenty providersHere in the UK we have several providers of ADSL, quite happily competing. In fact, I get my ADSL connection from a comparitively small firm, Nildram. This is despite the incumbent telco monopoly of BT doing its best to screw it up and Oftel largely being a wet fish.
Availability is less than stellar, but it's getting better.
NB: UK users should check ADSLGuide for info on ADSL in the UK.

Well, this is a repost, since my original post 10 minutes ago has apparantly died somewhere in a bitbucket.
See http://www.xfiles.nildram.co.uk/ms/ for a mirror.
Now we just wait for the appeals to begin.. then hopefully, end.
