Re:App store lockdown
those kinds of applications are installed by the TrustedInstaller account, which has privileges above and beyond normal administrative accounts in Windows. I have seen no indication that this situation has changed in version 10.
I imagine you haven't seen any indication since you probably never bothered looking, spending 2 seconds googling or even care.

Re:Get over the version numbers people..
ever heard of "winver" - it shows the real windows version number.
http://www.nirmaltv.com/2009/08/17/windows-os-version-numbers/
this is what mozilla could've done - a version number which is used by extensions (4.0, 4.0.1, 4.1.0, 4.1.1, etc.) and an external version number for marketing purposes: Firefox 5, Firefox XT, Firefox ME, etc.
this is one thing that I believe Microsoft has done right.
version numbers have a meaning - my opinion is that people who say "get over the version numbers" do not have a clue what meaning they have.

Re:It is all about resolution
Extra polygons and memory would give you bigger maps and farther draw distances, you dont need higher resolutions to see that.

Re:It is all about resolution
Its not all about resolution.
What about polygon count, and memory size?

Re:No, just no..
I'm not sure its a good thing. There are a lot of guidelines. You can quote wiki guidelines all day, back and forth. Its almost worse than going to court.
I'm convinced someone who knew the guidelines well enough could charge money to argue on wikipedia on others behalf.

Re:No, just no..
I know, you practically have to be a "WP lawyer" to argue anything.
I imagine companies hiring people to argue "WP law" on the discussion pages one day.

Re:British Power Supply
Usually when you invade you knock out the enemies power before you go in.
The airforce was interested in this: mit plane that lands on a wire
But thats something youd use before the war starts or in the ensuing insurgency.

Re:Anti-Slashdot answer
Sure it does but just like everything else for Windows you need a third party tool. This one is free and has nice features but if you need a really loaded virtual desktop experience I would recommend AltDesk which is rock solid and has drag and drop between desktops (which is what it sounds like the OP is looking for) and it can be used standalone or integrated into AstonShell which is a really nice shell for Windows.
So yeah you can do virtual desktops in Windows, have been able to for quite awhile, you just use third party tools. Which lets be honest most folks don't use much of what Windows has built in when the third party tools are so much better. It would be like using NTBackup instead of say Acronis. Just lame.
