This attack in the US back in the 90's was a moving van packed with home built explosives, parked on the street. It effectively destroyed a rather large building.
Londoners: My thoughts are with you. There is no excuse for this, but somehow we need to figure out how to fight back effectively without lowering ourseleves to their level. -
Re:Started the shooting??
You have to stay in the union because the constitution says so[0], and you have to obey the constitution to stay in the union....
No. You don't have to obey the constitution to stay in the union; you have to obey the constitution because it's the law of the land. No circular reasoning, it's hierarchical reasoning with the Constition at the top. (I'm not a fan of hierarchical reasoning in general, but a hierarchy with a law at the top rather than a king was a pretty good step forward.)
Something tells me that a guy who refers to them as "Confederate terrorists" has probably NOT put a massive amount of brainpower into thinking about it.
It's exactly the word we use today to describe people who attack federal buildings.

Re:domestic terrorists?
No, I think that the thought of domestic terrorists was driven home* pretty well a long time ago. It just that you foreigners have such a short memory.
* Was working in a Court House right next door to another Federal Building with FBI offices in it when the bomb went off. I remember being evacuated, not allowed into work for 4 days while they "secured" the area, and had to move from my doorside parking space to one 4 blocks away.

Re:Come out of the cave!
With the knowledge that Linux is going to control our most advanced defense systems, foreign intelligence agencies and terrorists can easily infiltrate the Linux community to contribute subversive software. The risk is particularly acute since many Linux contributors are based in countries from which the U.S. would never purchase commercial defense software. Some embedded Linux providers even outsource their development to China and Russia.
yes, and the US Govt has no enemies within -- see here if you've forgotten -- xenophobia, anyone? -
Re:Declaration of Independence
What America needs is an armed moral authority dedicated to the ideals of the Republic -- sort of like the IRA, only with better bombs.
I think we tried that a few years ago. I think it somehow managed to have even less public support than your IRA did. Maybe a suggestion that doesn't involve domestic terrorism might be a good one.
