OpenShot 2
It's coming soon, it's free, open source, and is shaping up to be a really kickass video editor: http://www.openshotvideo.com/ Kickstarter was here: https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...

Openshot
I don't do much video editing, but another one I've read is supposed to be decent is openshot.
They are at version 1.3 and have nice documentation.

Re:Final cut pro == sad
You might give OpenShot a try. It's the new kid on the block, but it's had a really good reception.
Cinelerra is nice, but it is absolutely necessary to read tutorials and documentation to be able to use it effectively. You can get a lot of helpful information at the Vimeo Cinelerra group and even some of the linux video podcasts that are out there. A lot of podcast authors have established a workflow (what formats to use, etc) that works for them. -
OpenShot non-Liner Video Editor
the fact that Linux users making a video about using Linux don't have a decent tool to edit their videos with is kind of a drag...
OpenShot runs in Linux and I am positive you could edit a commercial in it

Re:Yes but...
"Is this one usable, unlike the other ones for linux?"
IMO, it already features everything that most people will ever need and it seems quite stable, too, but I prefer Kdenlive.

What about Gstreamer Gnonlin and Pitivi?
It looks like the author of this program spent(wasted?) a lot of time trying to use Gstreamer as the back-end for his project but basically ran into a brick wall.
If I remember correctly the developers of another Linux NLE called diva finally gave up on Gstreamer after years of struggling with it and subsequently abandoned their project altogether. Didn't the Diva developers also clash with the Gstreamer developers?
So it appears that the above developers put a lot of effort in writing Linux NLE's using Gstreamer but still ultimately failed at their attempts. Is there something inherently flawed with Gstreamer/Gnonlin? If Video software using Gnonlin as its back-end(Pitivi) can only be written by its author(Edward Hervey), Gstreamer must be too cryptic for mere mortal programmers. I wonder if anything formidable will ever come of Pitivi.

Re:Yeah yeah! Oh, yeah!
I've not tried it myself, but I've heard good things about OpenShot. I'd be interested to hear what people on here think about it.

Gstreamer and MLT
I guess I'll be the first to give a shout-out to Pitivi and Open Shot Video.
Reading Jonathan Thomas' ( Open Shot Video ) valiant attempt at creating a NLE from Gstreamer/Gnonlin it appears that the Gnonlin API/toolkit/whatever is VERY confusing to program a video editor in ( and unstable ). But since Jonathan chose MLT things are rapidly moving along for him. I often wonder why KDEnlive is so unstable because Kino is rock solid ( for me ) and it is also based on Dan Dennedy's impressive MLT toolkit.
But I truly believe that Pitivi will be the defacto NLE on linux. For the sole reason that Gstreamer is the defacto multimedia framework. It will probably be another five years before Pitivi is really a good stable functional application, and I say that because it took Gstreamer 10 years to do the same.

Re:Been using it for a while
People who don't want to hand-edit anything can also use Ubuntu Tweak, which has a nice little checkbox you can click for Chrome, in addition to many other nice applications like the OpenShot video editor.
