I to am on the Gorilla Glass bandwagon as well, and a big big fan of Corning. But Gorilla Glass is under patent. Synthetic Sapphire has been around since 1902, and it was cheap back then. Sapphire is hard... 9 on the Mohs scale, and the only substance harder is natural and synthetic diamond. I find it difficult to believe... so...do you have any references that says Gorilla Glass is cheaper and harder than Sapphire?

I'm not the parent poster, but here's a ref claiming that Gorilla Glass is indeed both cheaper and far weaker than sapphire.

If you were smart, you'd just get any one of the VESA mount Raspberry Pi cases and mount the pie on the monitor

You can find all the required parts by visiting pretty much any website of a large Raspberry Pi dealer (Adafruit, Element14) that has a dedicated RaspPi section and you'll find a list of all the parts, ready made, to be shipped to you to do just this.

Its not like this guy had to even 'find parts'.

Call or email Parts People and ask them. I already looked through their online catalog and didn't see it, but it's likely the part wasn't worth the effort to photograph and is sitting around on a shelf.

You might see what Parts People has; they aren't the original manufacturer of course, as far as I know they get their parts from the auctions Dell holds when they shut down a line and sell off all the old parts (yeah, Dell keeps no parts on hand for any models they aren't producing).
