Re:Court
Said supreme court case mentions that you are incorrect, giving 15 U. S. C. Â1226(a)(2) as an example of a valid law that overrides mandatory arbitration via the saving clause. Other laws may also exist, but need not be listed here.
For reference, that supreme court case relates to the mandatory arbitration clause in combination with the National Labor Relations Act (29 U.S.C. Â 157), and mentions that the NLRA didn't have a clause that prohibits mandatory arbitration.
Since that case, the Supreme court ruled against forced arbitrarion: https://www.pe.com/2019/01/15/... - specifically that the question on whether or not the forced arbitration applied was a role for the courts and not private arbitrators.

Re:If they need some money...
Now if the fucking morons could stop equating a loan guarantee with money out of the pocket we'd be able to have a reasonable discussion.
Your right, A loan guarantee only costs us if it "Crashes and Burns", the apparent the computer or hardware glitch that misaligned the mirrors counts as a Crash and the fire counts as a Burn so the Magic Eight Ball says "Outlook not good".
For a "Renewable" energy project that uses so much Natural gas that they are now require to sign-up for Cap-and-Trade under California law to offset their CO2 emissions!
The Ivanpah plant in the Mojave Desert uses natural gas as a supplementary fuel. Data from the California Energy Commission show that the plant burned enough natural gas in 2014 – its first year of operation – to emit more than 46,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
That’s nearly twice the pollution threshold for power plants or factories in California to be required to participate in the state’s cap-and-trade program to reduce carbon emissions. SOLAR POWER: Desert plant has pollution problem
Doesn't that really defeat the whole purpose? Well it does unless the purpose is to put a fuckton of money into some contractor's pockets.

already happened in my area
In this case, it was the low revenue (low three-digit range after five years of handing out fines) that forced the decision. With red light cameras, the private contractor is the real winner. Everyone else, from local citizen to local government only loses.

Meanwhile...
In the last days of this congressional session, our elected reps faced two urgent spending requests. One was for ongoing combat in Afghanistan. The other was to keep several thousand public school teachers from being laid off in the fall. One of those got funded.
But, sure, dick around with the grading scale and pretend it'll fix things.

Here's one article, I'm sure you can find more. The basic problem is the same as with Cape Wind, they dont want to spoil wilderness areas with solar cells, windmills, or power lines.

Re:Of Course NotWikipedia is not the only unreliable source of information out there. Which is why the web itself horrifies many teachers. They've been complaining about all the amateur "scholars" and pseudo-objective material on the web for years. All Wikipedia has done is caused a lot of individual informational web sites to be coalesced into one. Hell, blocking it risks creating an atmosphere where students become complacent and trust every source they come across "Created"? As long as I can remember, students have assumed that certain sources — dictionaries, almanacs, encylopedias — are infallible. And of course they're anything but. No, we need to teach students how to recognize good sources and bad sources, how to research, and what citation means. Failure to do so will just create yet another generation of research-i-tards that can't find information to save their life. Right you are, and ironically enough Wikipedia is the perfect tool for that purpose. It's very flaws make it an excellent place to teach students why some information is good and some is not so good.
Unfortunately, schools are not set up to teach this kind of critical thinking. Schools are judged by the number of "facts" they pound into a student's head, not the intellectual skills they really need. -
Re:Religiosity is the only criterion.
I think there are some. A cursory search turns up the following.
- For some evangelicals, Mideast war stirs hope
- Troubled times give some believers hope
- Does Bush Think War with Iran Is Preordained?
If I had my copy of The God Delusion handy, I could cite the same sources as Dawkins.

5000 arrests zero convictions
Ashcroft has used the Patriot Act to detain 5000 people, used secret detentions so that many of these people are just missing to their families. (link requires subscription)
I have a family and while I would love to protest the treatment of our civil liberties by this administration, in this environment where police feel they have carte blanche to arrest or detain someone for several days without judicial review, I can't take a chance that I might be locked up. It's wrong. Everything about it is wrong, and the attitudes trumpeted by the right reflect quite chillingly those of the Nazis, down to their exagerrated proclamations of victory and silencing of dissent through intimidation. -
Re:Belo breaks their own rulesA quick check of the referenced site shows that the Riverside Press-Enterprise is another Belo property. Besides the "©2002 Belo Interactive Inc." at the bottom of the home page, you can click on the "Press-Enterprise" link in the left-side nav bar to get a page that says The Press-Enterprise Company is a Belo Subsidiary.
Belo can't be prosecuted for deep-linking to itself.

http://www.inlandempireonline.com/news/stories/051 701/hhens.shtmlA man convicted in April of oppressing Scientologists because of their religion has fled to Canada to apply for political refugee status, the man said Wednesday.
Keith Henson, 58, of Palo Alto, was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday morning in court but didn't show up. A judge immediately issued a warrant for his arrest.
Henson's conviction on a charge of interfering with a religion stemmed from his picketing at the Church of Scientology's Golden Era Productions in Gilman Hot Springs.
Henson said in a phone interview Wednesday night from Canada that he went there to protest a Scientology event. He then decided he would stay after talking to an immigration lawyer.
Henson said his human rights have been violated because of a recommended sentence that could put him in jail for 200 days and subject him to five years' probation for a misdemeanor crime. He said the sentence would be too harsh.
Probation officer Garry Davis recommended that sentence to the court.
Henson had said he did not want probation because he believed it would give Scientologists a chance to keep an eye on him through the government.
Despite his conviction, Henson doesn't believe he was a threat to the Scientologists. He said Wednesday that he just wants them investigated for one death in the compound and one near it last year.
Court records include handwritten and typewritten letters from some of the Scientologists who work at Golden Era expressing their fear that Henson might harm them. They requested sentencing terms similar to Davis' recommendation.
Friends of Henson don't believe that he deserves the treatment he has received, because they say he would never hurt anyone.
"He is a kind and gentle man," Ida Camburn said. "He is a decent human being."
Riverside County Superior Court Judge Robert Wallerstein issued a no-bail arrest warrant for Henson. The judge postponed the sentencing until Henson is arrested and can explain where he has been and why he didn't come to court.
Deputy District Attorney Robert Schwarz said Henson took pictures of him and posted the names of district attorney support staff on the Internet. Schwarz said in court Wednesday that he believes the moves were an attempt to intimidate him from prosecuting the case.
"He needs to come back here and face up to his charges," said Muriel Dufresne, public relations director for Golden Era. "He can't flee from justice."
