Re:What happened to you Linux...
The KDE team has a touch interface. It's pretty good.
It's called Plasma Active
They just keep it separate from the Desktop interface, because you know, desktops and handhelds are different things.
I wish Microsoft knew this.

BMOKDE is where I'll probably move to once I finally upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04.
However, I must say that I'm rather glad Microsoft has gone & merged their mobile & desktop interfaces.
'Cause I don't like Microsoft, see. Canonical, on the other hand; that disappoints me.

Re:Ubuntu vs Android
Lots of things. Say you have an app built using the LAMP stack; and want to tun it on the tablet. You can't do that on Android since the APM stack is still not good enough in Android. So you either rewrite your app in Android-Java, or run it in a browser, hosted elsewhere on a proper Intel server. But Ubuntu on a tablet would be a better fit in more than 90% use cases.
It's not like tablets are full-fledged PCs
Why not? Like a PC, a tablet has a CPU, RAM, enough storage, and more options for 100% always-on networking than the PC's LAN or WiFi. Many tablets support full USB so keyboards and mice can be connected when required.
Android is just the Linux kernel without GNU; a full fledged GNU/Linux would be a very useful gadget.
Ditch the conditional: now there is a distro (based off the MeeGo work) that you can install on tablets

Re:They lost me when they mentioned KDE...
The people on the forum are trying to use the classic Linux excuses and make the user feel stupid and blame him for Linux shortcomings.
No, the people in this forum are using a classic FUD technique of finding one nasty datum and pretending it's the whole world.
They're also lying about KDE, and being deceptive about the DE which will be used on this tablet. If you're genuinely interested in the system and have read past the mess of disinformation and proprietary propaganda that is today's Slashdot, go to the KDE Plasma-active site and test it yourself for free.

Not really different then ICS (video link)
I watched the video at http://plasma-active.org/#prettyPhoto/0/ and it's not very different then Android (ICS) and its resizable widgets. If I'm wrong, please, point me the differences, or why KDE (which I'm a big fan) on mobile is so better than current alternatives.

At least link to the Plasma Active page
The wall-o-text of TFA doesn't even have pics, and I barely noticed the link to the project

Re:Uhm, ok.
I'm not an ubuntu user, but Its pretty close to what I want. Android is also a Linux distro. I like the idea of having the choice of different WM/GUI configurations which will allow for more experimentation and innovation than the closed development model of android allows.
I'd love to get Plasma Active on it. http://plasma-active.org/
