Bush needs to also be concerned about winning the hearts and minds of non-Arab people. The horrible things that go on behind closed doors of Islamic fundamentalist regimes is truly heartbreaking. You don't need to lie to get our point across, and currently Western media does an incredibly crappy job of covering it:

My bet 100% of the news watching majority that use TV as their only source of information have never seen any of the above.
Rumsfeld's tactics of winning the hearts and minds is a vital part of what the Bush Doctrine is trying to achieve. It's something we should have been focused on all along. -
Re:My experience on WikipediaPretend that this is Wikipedia and give us citations, please.
Since you asked, here is a little reference regarding Seymour Hersh, the dude who saw all the unreleased videos the US government has at present regarding Abu Ghraib (the quote below stolen via google from dailykos et al):
---
This is a summary of Hersh speaking at the ACLU 2004 America At A Crossroads conference according to EdCone.com (via Oliver Willis). I verified by watching the video myself (it starts at 1:07, the "worse stuff" part starts at 1:30).
There's more bad stuff in here, read Ed Cone's summary.
I'll try transcribing some of the more important bits.
[my transcription from 1:31 - 1:32]
Some of the worse that happened that you don't know about, ok. Videos, there are women there. Some of you may have read they were passing letters, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib which is 30 miles from Baghdad [...]
The women were passing messages saying "Please come and kill me, because of what's happened". Basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys/children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. The worst about all of them is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror it's going to come out.

speaking of the record industry...
guess what hillary rosen's up to these days?
just heard this report by investigative journalist greg pallast that says she been tasked with re-writing iraq's intellectual property laws.
so we've got corporate vultures writing iraqs laws... people with no experience in government or nation building... pretty disturbing. -

Insightful?!?
Hey,
Fellow geek here. Not only a geek, but a vegan as well. I don't see how making some lame comment about PETA gets to be insightful, but anyways... I invite you to check out these realmedia clips here and here, and tell me that PETA doesn't have a cause worth fighting for.
Personally seeing shit like this makes me forget about how important open source is and focus on more important things. -
