Re:IFF-ILBM
Tracker module? hard? Are you joking or what?
The first that comes in my mind is CheeseTracker .
Take a quick look up in wikipedia and you'll find others too. -
Re:Editing music without a MIDI keyboard
I haven't used it a whole lot, but Cheesetracker seems to fit the requirements you've listed.

Re:i make music tools.
While I am not very good at music (just tinker really) I have found CheeseTracker seems to do the job for anyone into
.it and .s3m files. -
It needs a lot of work...
But it fits into my code bounty.
:)I'm really hoping Advanced Tracker takes off, he's got a great design but nothing much yet, code-wise.
I've also been working off and on on getting CheeseTracker going on MacOSX, but it's got a lot of weird GTK issues. Reduz is working on porting it to Qt right now, though, so maybe it'll be a possibility in the future.
All I know is, there's crap for trackers on OSX (and Linux for that matter) now. Here's to finding something that works, dammit!

Re:Explanation?Doesn't affect me much, because I have a motherboard OPL3SA chip with its crappy FM synthesizer (so MIDI sounds really lousy)
As a perfect example of why Alsa is powerful, take a look at RX/Saturno
Its a Yamaha DX7 emulator that installs itself as a virtual ASLA midi port, that any Alsa MIDI player/app can use.
Basically, the ALSA architecture can, in theory, let you work around your OPL midi limitation. You can install 'virtual' drivers that use wavetable, or whatever, synthesis to provide better MIDI playback.

Re:I love CIV
Strange how there are so few linux trackers. However, there's a light at the end of the tunnel: reduz has recently released his Cheese tracker, an open-source Impulse clone sporting all IT's shortcuts and effects
Definitely worth a look.
