Thanks to 1UP for their review of Intellivision Lives! for Xbox, as "the Atari 2600's most successful rival" in the U.S. gets its own retro compilation, also released for PlayStation 2. The review appreciates the "well-crafted collection" encompassing "roughly sixty games for a wallet-friendly $20", and savors the way "the games are presented via arcade machines within an amusingly kitschy virtual '80s pizza parlor." Although it has some issues with the in-game controls, since "...the Intellivision had intricate controllers featuring a numeric keypad", the piece concludes by noting that "...fans of the system should have no reservations about picking up a copy." Thanks to Boomtown for the first part of their ongoing series, discussing the early history of handheld videogames. They start off with the Milton Bradley Microvision, which "actually arrived ten years prior to the release of the Game Boy", in 1979, and then discuss "Nintendo's famous line of simple portable LCD video games", the Game & Watch series, before covering the classic original Nintendo Game Boy, and "the world's first color handheld", the attractive but ultimately doomed Atari Lynx.

Thanks to the Gaming-Age forum regulars for pointing to an MCV UK article showing a forthcoming Intellivision-licensed 'TV game', similar in style to the 10-in-1 Atari joystick we covered a few months back. This joystick (looking nothing like the original Intellivision controller - will there be problems with a lack of buttons?), will be launching in the UK next month. Choices will include joysticks with both 10-in-1 and 25-in-1 flavors of officially licensed, built-in Intellivision games, and according to the article, "..titles include Star Strike, Night Stalker, Space Armada, Astrosmash, Sub Hunt, Thundercastle and Pinball, amongst others."
