German Railways To Get WLAN RailNet
wertarbyte writes "According to the German IT news site Heise, german Telekom and the german railway corporation Deutsche Bahn have formed an alliance to equip the ICE high speed trains with WLAN access (Babelfish translation), as well as the stations those trains arrive at. This offer is aimed at business travellers, and will first be introduced on routes frequented by those ("travel time is usable time")." -
Harmony project in difficulty
Linux Weekly News Daily is reporting that many key Harmony developers no longer see a need to code Harmony. Meanwhile, others take exception to the level of control over the future development of Linux that the QPL could give Troll Tech. Another issue is the complexity of managing one or two years worth of patch files in the right order, and what to do when a new release of Qt is made. It seems some new blood could help the Harmony Project, which after all has some different goals to Qt. -
KDE Hits 1.0
Bob Bell was the first to write in and let us all know KDE has finally hit the big 1.0! Something that a lot of you have been waiting for a long time, I'm sure. Markus Fleck (aka python) wrote in to tell us that Red Hat has hired Preston Brown, the author of KOrganizer, and a recent volunteer to the Harmony Project. Harmony is the project to provide a free and superior Qt replacement. An interesting turn of events, indeed...
