Re:Academics
They should do separate analysis of solid state drives and magnetic drives as well to see if they suffer from the same issue.
Why? That is what I would call: settled science
Incidentally that study on harddisks a few years back also got to the number two-thirds. Maybe two-thirds of people don't know basic data security regardless of what they are selling online

Re:Is iOS affected too...
this is a kind of Rowhammer attack, which Apple mitigated in 2015
If Apple says they mitigated it years ago, even without knowing about current research, then we can rest assured that they told the truth just as always, right? Right?
And Apple cultists with mod points will not stand for any criticism. No, none. Nor have any concept of ethical use of moderation, just like Apple itself has no concept of ethics.

Is iOS affected too...
The article said that Apple iOS devices may be vulnerable to, but since this is a kind of Rowhammer attack, which Apple mitigated in 2015, I wonder if it is?
It would be nice if the article (and researchers) were more clear about other platforms being vulnerable...

hard to say
We are amidst the beginnings of a new cold war. I have a lot of respect for Kaspersky. Being so close to the Kremlin doesn't made me feel warm and fuzzy, but they have always spoken out against state actors. I wonder if they will respond directly to this as they have always seemed to be a fairly open company with regards to data breaches and cuber security risks. https://www.scmagazineuk.com/i...

As for my asking for "correction" etc.?
See subject: "fugetaboudit", I got what I needed RIGHT here http://yro.slashdot.org/commen...
APK
P.S.=> From whoever posted it before my reply there BEFORE me as "ac" - I also found out some VERY ODD THINGS that happened here on
/. in June-Nov 2013 too recently REGARDING "five eyes" trading information, doing work for the others from other nations in it:SLASHDOT ITSELF WAS "HACKED" BY GCHQ IN THAT SAME TIMEFRAME, & GUESS WHAT ELSE WAS GOING ON? Mr. Snowden etc. -> http://www.scmagazineuk.com/gc...
My own brother, a fairly (or getting to be) "bigshot" in the US Military (upper field grade by now, probably Colonel & I am certain Major @ the very least, working in the pentagon nowadays last I knew of @ least) ALWAYS TOLD ME "The Feds HATE you 'nerds'"... now? I actually KNOW why!
Suppression & can't have ANYONE that can outsmart you out there making you "lose face" bullshit - gotta be. What other f'ing reason WOULD there be? We're (mostly I think @ least, perhaps I am naive) OUT TO HELP + IMPROVE THINGS... @ least I am!
Life is about those "little revolutions" (which a woman from Argentina & I discussed while on the way to Prague in 2010 on a train - nice lady too) - she had it 'down cold' that US "little people" can't singly "topple the world" or fix it... ideas we come up with CAN though, changing the world, for the better - imo, it IS our duty as human beings... apk

Re:Hard to defend against you say?
What would you consider evidence?
That’s why the news from Bitdefender researchers is so alarming. They discovered sophisticated CAPTCHA-bypassing Android malware in Google Play apps.

Re:Do I mind if the government keeps my DNA on fil
Not particularly, no. I don't really mind the government maintaining a DNA database.
This is the same UK government that is so expertly careful about protecting personal information. Any information you give them (and I mean anything... contact details, date of birth, NI number (=SSN for you Americans), medical history, tax returns, your library borrowing list that shows you have a penchant for lycanthropic porn, etc. etc.) you may as well cut out the middleman and post it on MySpace for the world to read, chances are it will become that public in short order anyway. And you're willing to trust them with your DNA?
In that case I have a bridge you may be interested in purchasing...

Have these guys been on Holiday.... For the last three months?
The attack is ancient.
The method of delivery is a bit newer - a few months ago it all got a lot more efficiently delivered - it's pretty mainstream knowledge, even this article from the paper edition of SC Magazine talks about it - and their copy deadlines will be from weeks ago.
