Re:First of All...
Yup. This guy's an American all right!
I don't like Anime and I don't like CGI. The only good animation is Disney.
Well, that's pretty ironic, seeing as pretty much EVERY SINGLE disney movie to come out in the past 3 years has had gobs of CGI all over it. Remember the marauding mongol hordes in Mulan? Yup. Those were CGI. Even the Lion King had CGI.
Animation is not about the fucking drawing. It's about the story. That's where Disney will stomp a mudhole in those japs anyday.
Yeah, after all, who cares about what gives a person an identity, or what exactly IS a person's identity (see: Ghost In The Shell). I just wanna know if the cute fuzzy animal (that I happen to be consuming) is gonna get away from the big bad MAN HUNTER! oh boy.
But back to my point.
No, seriously, you had a "point"?
They're real Americans. Not wanna be arthouse, coffee slurping fags.
Translation: My freinds are REAL AMERICANS(tm)! They all watch football like we have actually something to do with the sport, watch MTV, are homophobic, xenophobic, have an IQ that's only slightly greater than their shoe size, and we drink beer and eat pork rinds!
Just for clarity, I am an American, but fucking idiots like this are what make everyone else on the planet biased against me because of where I'm from.

Re:Obvious suggestion
no shit, i was thinking this... Why don't slashdot do something for the internet instead of soakin' up our money... Hmm guess we just all need to read S2 and forget this lame "no news" site. I only wish i knew who did this to k5. I could show them some of my mad sniper skillz.

Cheater NostalgiaAhh yes... I first learn about multiplayer cheating in a game called Omega-land, which only existed on PLATO - which back then only ran on CDC mainframes. You could build up characters by walking up to another, killing him to get his stuff, and before the victim took a step, he SHIFT-STOPPED out of the game. Upon re-entering, he could do the same to you, doubling everything.
More recently, we played a LOT of quake at our office, so naturally, we whipped up a server mod that made all damage quad if your player name was ABDUL (player named used by a co-worker who received much abuse). Good for many laughs.
AIM Alert! Read this if you use AOL Instant Messenger.

Though I don't normally do this...
Check out Slashdot2.org. It's like Hotgrits, but it dosen't suck! Rock!
To keep (or rather, place) this on topic, Lars Ulrich's address to the Supreme court (from the 11th) is up on Metallica's site. It's actually rather interesting (and easier to read than his interview here at /.).

Re:OK Andover, cut the shit.
I agree totally. If this is truly what has happened, and this would suggest something horrible has happened to osm, we should not only actively boycott slashdot for this behaviour, but email taco every day that we do not go and explain why, report to other news sites, post on other news sites in our support for osm daily.
Obviously now that
/. is coprporate this will be the only way to get them to do right. It is really interesting how hypocritical /. can be. They advocate open sourcing everything from toasters to nuclear codes but /code has always been woefully behind and released "when [taco] feel[s] like it." (direct quote) They talk about allowing free speech, anonymity, and privacy, but make /. all but unviewable without an account. Then they pull this shit. It was bad enugh when they wee disabling accounts for "trolling" and indeed IP addresses. It is the reason some of the newer trolls (Karma pimp? where art thou?) have disappeared. It's not like they really encourage positive participation anyway. Moderation will automatically make you leak karma like there is no tomorrow, so the only people who will do it have vested interests. Posts critical of
/. practices (like these) will be modded down. YOu can't moderate down signal 11 or you will be bitchslapped by Taco. You also cannot annoy Taco in any way or he will bitchslap you too.At one point there was supposedly a bug in slash that allowed posts to end up at -2. Probabaly an urban legend, but interesting if it was true. Given the way posts are moderated, it would not be hard to (re)impliment silently because anyone who dared point it out would be moderated down to -2. Thankfully this has not happened yet.
Maybe we should support and send articles to the troll-friendly slashdot2.org? Perhaps that page could become the place to report bullshit on
/. since /. no longer reports on it anymore (they used to report when they were hacked, DDOS'ed, down, or anything, now they are down in some fashion almost daily with no explanations, and all kinds of nefariousness goes unexplained, like the undocumented bitchslap system).
