Re:Well, they didn't lie...
The flammable/inflammable controversy will go away soon since neither is included in the up-goer list of the ten-hundred most commonly-used words.

We worry more than other people
If you think Linux users have to worry about "exploits, botnets, keyloggers, malware, [and] Trojans" then you probably shouldn't be on Slashdot.
On my Linux box if a website manages to get a popup window open without asking, that's a major security breach requiring immediate examination and correction.
On the average user's Window's box an unexpected new browser toolbar, websites that redirect to unfamiliar places and a short game of Kill the popups is such a common part of the landscape that people just don't notice them until they render the computer completely unusable.

Re:Their real problem is lack of visibility.
I thought this too until I read the story slashdot linked to. What you are describing are burried stories. As far as I can tell, you can still search for burried stories and you can view them if you want to.
The story linked to by slashdot gives you the links of the two stories the guy put up, and digg.com claims they do not exist. A really interesting thing is that this url: http://digg.com/technology/Suspicious_Digging_ goes to an error page, yet the title of the page shows "Suspicious Digging?" Notice the question mark at the end, which is not in the URL. Also, if you make up a fake story name like http://digg.com/technology/this_story_does_not_ex
i st you'll see a blank page without the error message.I don't know if this is normal behavior. Seems like someone actually deleted the stories.

Re:Right...
The printable version (pops up "Print" dialog box, which you can safely cancel out of) has no such distractions.
Meanwhile, I've noticed that many of the people (not you necessarily) who complain loudly about cluttered web pages run Firefox with dozens of extensions and have at least 5 tabs open at any given point not to mention all the ultra-important widgets that tell them exactly what the state of the universe is and do I have mail already. I prefer to keep things simple. -
Re:DANGER
That is not all submitted extensions, I know because none of the ones I submitted are shown on that page
:)
It's the 100 most popular extensions on addons.mozilla.org, more or less. See the page those screenshots came from: The Superbrowser. -
DANGER
Do not install all the entrants at once. It would be bad.
