I sent this site over to a friend of mine at the Southern Poverty Law Center. They have an Intelligence Project that monitors Hate groups and Hate sites on the internet. I am still waiting on a reply, but for those wanting to know how to define 'hate' -- at least in the legal sense -- and free speech, this is the site to learn from.

OK, I took some of your remarks too literally. But you are liable for the actions of people who do things you advocate. The Southern Poverty Law Center has won millions in civil penalties from people who advocate hate crimes. This particular organization probably wouldn't care about somebody beating up their boss. But the victim himself could sue you.

Contact Morris Dees at the Southern Poverty Law Center to stop this gross trampling on the rights of people of color by hateful white racists!

Mr. Dees has succesfully bankrupted white hate groups in court like the Klan and the American Nazi's so he would be the person most useful to bankrupt the web hate brigade.

With the ORBkins, it's like having a news director at the TV station - yes, sometimes important things don't get covered (at which point some people will complain, and perhaps something will get done), but most of the time, it's just raving loonies who get ignored, and no one but the loonies gives a damn.

Until it's government mandated, or public institutions start requiring its use, there's no censorship issue involved. When the Southern Poverty Law Center maintains and publicizes a list of suspected hate groups, that's not a violation of civil liberties (although if they're wrong it might be libel). When the FBI does it, it's a different issue.

11. Reform the "Intellectual property" laws and their related organizations, perhaps so that copyrights are for a couple decades and most patents are for a dozen years and only for true innovations. Ensure that any IP developed with any government money is immediately put into the public domain.

Pick people with a track record of years of fighting for the common good or who have already made a major accomplishment demonstrating commitment and just anonymously give them $100K without strings attached. For advice on setting a direction of what to do with wealth, read the Book "The Seven Laws of Money" by Michael Phillips and Sally Raspberry, especially the chapter on how foundations fail in their mission and how grants go to people who sound good but usually can't deliver (i.e. how hard it is to give money away).

My wife and I are working on a few of these issues ourselves (and a few example links are to our stuff). We make money contracting and spend it to "buy" our own time for making quality software the market can't or doesn't seem to want to pay for. Even without IPO riches, any competent software developer can make $75K-100K in today's market. Graduate students can live on $20K a year, and so can many software developers (kids make it harder) if they follow the path of Voluntary Simplicity. It's a question of priorities.

Voluntary simplicity leaves a lot of funds for doing good deeds - even if they are done on your own time by using your own money to take time off and develop open source software or do other worthwhile ventures. There are awesome things happening over the next twenty to forty years. According to Moore's law, desktop computers in twenty or so years will be a million times faster than today's. Already computers can drive cars somewhat well and identify vegetable better than humans.

It is saddening to see people spend so much money on less important stuff (another night club in this case). Now if it was a night club where these issues are discussed, then maybe it makes sense.

The outcome of this suit is very similar to another civil suit, one filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center against the KKK regarding the burning of the black Macedonia Baptist Church in 1995. In that case, as in this one, the defendants, although not directly involved in the felonies in question, were found responsible and were fined tens of millions of dollars. The similarity doesn't end there, however. In this abortion case, Christine Ramey stated, "I have no intention of giving money to people who kill children". In the KKK case, after the verdict was handed down, the Klan attempted to prevent the black church from acquiring their liquid assets by giving them to an infamous far-right author sympathetic to their cause. The SPLC followed up with additional litigation and recovered the money. In my opinion it is no coincidence that there are such striking similarities between the behavior of the anti-abortion zealots in this case and the behavior of the Klansmen in the Macedonia church burning case. Both are cut from the same bolt of cloth. I hope that Planned Parenthood and the other organizations and individuals involved follow up with additional legal action if needed and round up every last cent they have coming to them from this judgement.
