Make a Kids' Power Wheel Toy Awesome for $500 (Video)
You can spend less than $500 if you like. That's the maximum amount allowed if you're competing in the Power Racing Series. Interviewee Josh Lee is a member of the Southern Polytechnic State University Electric Vehicle Team. The modified electric 'ride on' toy they showed off and raced at Maker Faire Atlanta (where this video was made) is just one of their many projects. And, obviously, they're just one of many 'slightly deranged' teams involved in learning about and building electric vehicles. (Alternate Video Link) -
Buddylinks Stinks
Omie TheNull writes "After recieving several messages over AIM with the content: "check this out... http://www.wgutv.com/osama_capture.php?HlvU", I went to the page and discovered that it is sponsored by a site called "BuddyLinks." Their website is at http://www.buddylinks.net and they claim that they are NOT a virus. However, when you visit their links and install their "player" it seems that you are also installing software that takes control of your AIM buddy list and sends advertisments to those on your buddy list. The advertisements are obviously designed to look like innocent messages from your buddies asking you to check out certain links. Very scummy, indeed." -
Anime Unleashed on TechTV
da3dAlus writes "Beginning December 30, the first series of a new anime block will start on TechTV's new "Anime Unleashed" program. As billed by TechTV, "Anime Unleashed focuses on the science-fiction elements of anime--titles that imagine what our near or far future will be like, investigate the relationship between humans and machines, dream of what alien civilizations could be like, and more." The block will premiere with single half-hour episodes airing Monday through Thursday at 1am EST, followed by a two-hour block of anime on Friday from 11pm to 2am EST. Some of the series slated to be shown include Crest of the Stars, Serial Experiment Lain, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, Betterman, and Silent Mobius. Additionally, a contest is being held until the first of January 2003 by TechTV to create a new logo for the program." -
Blue Sub #6, Outlaw Star, And Tenchi, Oh My!
da3dAlus writes: "Toonami Revolution (check link for exact schedule) has spread the word on the new Toonami lineup beginning the week of November 6th. Basically, Cartoon Network is moving around a few shows to make room for the 4-part Blue Submarine #6 series and the weekly Toonami movies showing every Friday in November at 5pm EST. Gundam Wing will be dropped from the Midnight Run, DBZ will take its place, and Tenchi will fill the 12:30 slot (with NO uncut episodes). Currently, Outlaw Star is scheduled for airing on November 11 at 11 am EST." I highly recommend Blue Sub #6. The Japanese audio track is amazing (great surround sound) but I s'pose CN will air the English track.
