They've earned enough freedom to work in, you've got only to work WITH 'em, to make the results engage the rest of the enterprise the way it needs to, and to arrange the leverage they need.

Also, take a look at http://www.taskjuggler.org/ , and do some learning in some GOOD project management books.
Good luck, Good work, and Good living to ye.

Kplato vs TaskJuggler
That's a great news. I like KDE a lot, way better than XP.
Am curious though how Kplato compares to TaskJuggler. -
Re:TaskJuggler+SVN or some frontend code.I was going to propose basically the same. I found TJ while trying to do Gantt charts under linux. It does so, but it main strenghts lay on the resources and accounting side,
As they say on the page, it is not the best software to print pretty diagrams for your boss, it is the software to help you build big stuff. -
Re:Ask Slashdot Template
Taskjuggler looks very good also: http://www.taskjuggler.org/

MS Project alternative
http://www.taskjuggler.org/
I was pointed to this program some days ago. I don't know if it's good or bad, but some serious people have told me it's good and a serious competitor for MS Project in some aspects. At least it's free and you can test it to see if it fits your needs. -
TaskJuggler
Try SuSE's TaskJuggler. While it's not available for Windows you might want to consider using an X client for windows to access it via remote X.
