Re:Wrong Tag
The NDP have never left less government debt in their terms of office.
Of course, Gary Doer in Manitoba has had a balanced budget every year for the last decade, as well as creating a rainy-day fund of hundreds of millions, but don't let that stop you from making black and white statements.
More NDP dreaming. You are going into the hole and like most NDPers can't come to realise it. NDP in Manitoba are more in the hole than ever with NDP debt.
Canadian Taxpayers gloss it over, but at the debt per taxpayer the Manitoba government couldn't borrow any more and the NDP were more or less forced into a balanced budget. But the debt itself was at record highs.
A PC Party blog on it. They talk specifically about the period NDP are mortgaging the province. Balanced budget does not mean less debt. Just means you mouth is 1mm above the water line.

Re:If you're in Canada (like me) reminder her...
Aw man, the NDP aren't much better.
If they aren't siphoning funds from crown corporations to suit their needs, they're outright scamming the people out of their hard earned money (or what's left of it after our ludicrous tax rates).
When it comes time to vote this year, I'm really not sure who to vote for yet, but it won't be for one of the Big Three. I think it's time to give someone else a chance. -

Re:A Model for other complaints about Govt spendin
Yes, this is a great position; some sort of government watchdog group would probably be the best place to start... if you're in the US, you could always try here
Be prepared for an uphill battle - most people in power are pro-corporate welfare (which this would be considered..) think of your congressman, his first line of defense would probably be "but we NEED to spend money on this, because it keeps all those citizens employed."
This would probably work better in other countries, where that particular defense wouldn't work... (for you Canadians reading, try The Canadian Taxpayer Federation
