Like Animal Crossing NES gamesThis is pretty cool, if you get past the fact that you are going to play a game... to play another game. Mario Party? The "Triple Triad" and "Tetra Master" (no relation) minigames in Final Fantasy for PlayStation? The NES games in the original Animal Crossing?

Modern Tetris is broken three waysI see Tetris as high art. It has a transcendent beauty unparalleled by conventional art. Until you take a closer look and see the flaws:
- infinite spin (explained),
- counterintuitive T-spin triples (explained), and
- "bag" randomization that allows playing forever (explained).

Re:Microsoft Goldeneye and Microsoft Blast CorpsThis is not a New Tetris product, in the same way that Super Mario Bros. was not a New Mario product. They would be re-releasing a classic game. Even if so, whether Nintendo has the right to re-release it is up to Mr. Rogers. I prefer my Tetris to be simple without "infinite spin" and "spin triples" to complicate things more than is needed. Why is it that game companies feel the need to add unnecessary crap like this to games? In the "Tetris from the Top" interview, Mr. Rogers stated that infinite spin is a side-effect of changes that were made to compensate for the less responsive directional controls on some popular mobile phones. Spin triples appear to result from a quirk in Super Rotation System (the behavior of Tetris Worlds when a tetromino is rotated against a wall), which Mr. Rogers kept in new games so that he could standardize Tetris the way USTA and other organizations have standardized Tennis. There are other corner-case behaviors in SRS that are more arguably bugs, such as a few asymmetries in the behavior of I. You also talk about Rare games not getting ported. What about Donkey Kong 64, which was developed for the N64? That was developed by Rare, but doesn't Nintendo hold the DK trademark rights? Nintendo owns a larger share of the exclusive rights in Rare games that use Nintendo-owned characters. Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong Racing were ported to Nintendo handhelds, but that could just be because Microsoft doesn't yet make an Xboy.

Microsoft Goldeneye and Microsoft Blast CorpsGoldeneye 007 That probably won't happen. Ownership of exclusive rights in this game is split among Nintendo, Microsoft (which purchased Rare and has its own console out), and Activision (which currently holds the exclusive James Bond 007 license from EON). Blast Corps - Granted, this game is mostly unheard of, but that doesn't prevent it from being one of the greatest, most underrated games from the N64. Also a Microsoft product. Tetris (NES version) - It rules over all other versions of Tetris. Mr. Rogers and his Neighborhood want to ensure that all new Tetris products include "standard Tetris", the rule set that includes infinite spin and spin triples.

Tetris since 2001 is "broken"
It seems that every Tetris game released since 2001 is broken by design. For instance, Tetris DS inherits its infinite spin and T-spin triple rules from Tetris Worlds.
LOCKJAW, on the other hand, is exactly as broken as you want it to be.

Tetris
I've got to wonder if the people who identified the T shapes actually did it by seeing the shape itself or identifying them by color. All licensed Tetris games now apparently follow a guideline, part of which dictates the colors of the Tetrominos. I would guess that quickly identifying the outline of a shape suggests a greater visual acuity than identifying a shape by its color.

Frequency of I tetrominoes
...will be a modification to Tetris to make that damn straight-line block appear more often.Tetris brand games since Tetris Worlds , including Tetris DS, already have this modification: the I tetromino is guaranteed to appear once in every group of 7 tetrominoes. Thus, if you have one group with the I at the start and one with the I at the end, the longest drought you can get is 12. The more even distribution makes it possible to keep your stack low arbitrarily long.

broken by design
The infinite spin was part of the official Tetris rulebook at the time the game was made. Without infinite spin they wouldn't have been able to use the Tetris license.
If this rulebook prohibits adding an option, then all Tetris brand games from 2001 on are broken by design, and if you want a challenge in single player, play clones.

Tetris DS is just as broken
The following interaction between infinite spin and the scoring system was recently discovered on tetrisconcept.com: Go into Tetris DS and start a standard game. Place any tetromino except O over a flat surface. Hold down, and before the tetromino locks, rapidly press B A B A B A. Watch the score go up. The only time infinite spin is turned off is when you play multiplayer, in which case the tetromino locks after a preset number of seconds.

Microsoft doesn't intentionally break Free games
Does, or does not, your Windows machine run Prey without the drivers required by the game?
No, but the drivers required by Prey do not break, say, Lockjaw .
Sony has never said you could run homebrew software, ever.
So what's the procedure for becoming a licensed developer of software for PSP?
