Re:This is what happens
Cutting taxes is not giving.
It is, when those taxes were paying for services received, and instead of paying for them through taxes, you issue bonds which those wealthy snap up.
They double-dip, you know.
And, let's be real the taxes are not on the 0.01 percent. They are on the 10%.
You could confiscate 100% of the 0.01's money. Kill them for good measure. And you still would only have enough money to run the US Government for 4 months. (And that's assuming you get market share for their stocks. Obviously you would not as who would buy stocks under such a situation.)
So, people play the old bait and switch: look at the evil gaziollionaires. They need to pay their fare share - and since their money isn't enough they raise taxes on everyone.
Or we could do this.
You're just being stupid, raising a pointless strawman argument that does not resolve differences or explain anything, but merely makes you look irate.
Have you read what's happening in CT? They followed the plan of tax the rich. Ooops. How's that worked out for them?
Have you read what's happening in Kansas? They followed the plan of handouts to the rich. How's that worked out for them?
Sorry, but you can believe the lie brigade about CT if you want, KS is still a failure. It's a logjam due to partisan politics.

Re:Let us opt out.
One analysis shows that family of 4 will have an increas of $7500 a year, Obama promised a cut of $2500 a year
I've never seen such a study but I would be interested in viewing it if it does indeed exist.
You think the mandate sucks but think universal is good? What is the difference? Let me answer. Mandate = corporations run it, universal = government runs it. You are required to buy it either way, one through premiums with a choice, the other through taxes with no choice.
Incorrect. A mandate has nothing to do with who actually implements health care. All it means is that the action is on you whereas universal means action is not required. Now we can quibble whether a tax is considered "buying something" but the fact remains that health care would far cheaper since there would be no shareholders or profit margins in the equation.
As for the GOP input, give me a SPECIFIC example of what they put in it.
This took me all but two seconds to find. Like I said, I watched all the proceedings:
"Republican Sen. John Ensign scored a victory in his pursuit of healthy lifestyle rewards with passage of his amendment to health care reform legislation that would offer deep discounts to those who quit smoking, lose weight or otherwise meet healthy milestones." -- source: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/oct/01/john-ensign-scores-win-health-care-amendment/
There is ONE section and Obama has decided he will ignore that, and that was the part where Congress was required to be on exchanges and pay for it themselves
From my understanding, this is a popular conservative talking point. I haven't felt the need to research it.

Re:Hey look at us, we are still relevant!
icebike,
This article puts a recent spate of drone strikes in the same story as the closings. Don't know what that means - draw your own conclusions. http://m.theday.com/article/20130809/NWS14 -
Re:hmmThe Mashpee Wampanoag tribe has plans to build a casino in his district (Masschusetts's 4th).
The article mentions three towns, two of which just so happen to be in Frank's district.
I wonder what odds the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe will give for their casino plans and Frank's push for legalizing online casinos being completely unrelated? Whilst I'm not American, it seems to me that if he's doing this to benefit his constituency, then he's just doing his job properly. After all we elect our representatives to do just that, represent us. -

Re:About that, Mr. Frank...
So it takes online gambling to get Barney to come around? Looks like someone must've spent a lot of time playing online poker.
Barney Frank is the US representative for Massachusetts's forth district. This includes such towns as Middleborough and New Bedford.
In a completely unrelated story, the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe has plans to build a casino in either Middleborough or New Bedford. -
Thanks...

Coincidentally... (link courtesy of POE News.
I would be *more* surprised if there was no one resistant or immune to this disease. -
