Re:High TurnoutOkay, one more time here's the "ScentCone" version of the ACORN workers story:
This year. This election. Here's a more-or-less random from the first page of Google results, but it shows the way to the local news coverage. Thousands of questionable registrations. The people involved were doing it systematically, but the group for which they were working ("ACORN") has been confronted over this stuff for the past several elections. Needless to say, they were shocked - SHOCKED! - that it would be happening, again, as they work to sign up more voters in dem-friendly urban areas. Shocked!
But if you actually read some news stories on the subject, you find things like this:
ACORN officials in Kansas City said they turned in the four people who were indicted.
"We're very happy that they were indicted," said Claudie Harris with ACORN.
Harris said ACORN workers are paid by the hour and not by the number of voter registration cards they turn in.
"When you fraudulently defraud this, that gives us a bad name and what we're trying to do a bad name," Harris said.
ACORN officials said the four indicted have been fired. So, we're talking about four people working for ACORN, and ACORN themselves turned them in. And I still haven't seen any references to previous problems with ACORN.

Re:Ah brilliant
This makes about as much sense as if the city of New York had decided to ban dogs after the Son of Sam said his dog told him to kill people.
Joke's on you, my friend. Some cities have already done that:
http://www.thekansascitychannel.com/news/9752235/d etail.html
Not only are they banning a whole breed due to a single incident, but they are actually requiring all grandfathered pitbulls be spayed and neutered. They want to exterminate the entire breed from their town. -
Who cares?
I like music, and I like
/. I don't, however like /.'s music.
Why not post some real stories like missles being shot at airplanes and being caught on tape by a news cameraman? Or perhaps the coming cyberwar.

Destroying My Karma Bit by Byte(NOT OFFTOPIC, NOT TROLL - YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER)
The post I originally made is at this place. I've been on a rampage ever since....so look for what I've said, if you wish...the brain-dead moderators (save one who said "underrated +1") have been attacking me ever since. Serves them right if they ignore this and get anthrax^h^h^h^h^h^h^h (never mind). I did not mean that. Honestly.
Your asinine moderators have been chipping away (and I don't really care) at my karma, because I can't shut up about...this situation:
I just MetaModded...for the umpteenth time, and felt it was pertininent to report that some moderators are "brushing away" stories posted that *might* have a bearing on our well-being. Case in point: "Anthrax at NASA?" Two "offtopic" mods (which I voted unfair after seeing that it has been reported in Kansas - See This... [thekansascitychannel.com]
The story *could* be a hoax (as are more than we like, even in the *accepted* stories lately, but WhoTF can tell, moreover, isn't almost every
/. reader conditioned to this and ready to investigate and report it as such? The post in question was regarding postal facilities in Texas. Is that so far from KC, MO? *NO*.
CNN is *not* reporting it, but if you can follow the link I provided, KC news *IS*.So is MSNBC... [msn.com]
So, those of you *blessed* with mod privs, start thinking out of the same "rare" brain-vein that Taco did on 9/11 - "Stuff that matters" never rang truer! As a community, if we can raise awareness, then WHY NOT DO IT?
