Re:This wasn't designed to fight terrorism.
I would argue that the idea of a "small government Republican" is dead for the most part.
Ron Paul is still alive, but he's definately in the minority. To many republicans, winning is more important than remaining true to the principle of liberty.
Big government fascists everywhere. Know what I'd like to do? Get a bunch of libertarians and classical liberals to pool their money to buy an unused offshore oil rig in international waters and declare it our own sovereign nation.
I don't think there is much we can do, as things are going to get a lot worse before they get any better. I am forming a group that will serve as a community of rational and liberty-minded folks. It's my hope and dream for creating the long term success of our people. -
I am frightenedAnd I quote, "The provision would allow the Homeland Security Department to require use of the license, or an equivalent card issued by motor vehicle bureaus to nondrivers for identification purposes, for access to planes, trains and other modes of transportation."
This scares the SHIT out of me. Would i need to show my national ID before I get on my city bus? How about when I cross state lines? Or get on a ferry?
PLEASE visit the Liberty Committee (Headed up by Congressman Ron Paul, who is a member of the Libertarian Party [even though he's on the Republican ticket]) at:
They have auto generating generic emails that they will send to your congressmen and women. Make your voice heard. DO SOMETHING, AMERICA, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Re:The lone hold out...
Do you mean this one? The one where he rails against gay marriage, judges who are attempting to marry gays, and gay people who are attempting to get married in front of judges? I fail to see any listing there of why he voted how he voted.
Now yes, he does seem to have, how shall you say perspective, but I would hardly call that enough. Not changing one's mind on an issue despite overwhelming evidence is not a good thing: it's a sign of inflexible thinking. But what he does appear to have is integrity, and that is what we need more of in Washington.
I wouldn't vote for him, as I don't agree with his views, but this is what the opposition in Washington is supposed to look like. This is what Jimmy Stewart would have become if Mr. Smith had stayed in Washington, gotten old, and hated most of the functions of government.

Re:TIA is more smoke and mirrors
Folks, these so-called "conservatives" really believe in nothing that is traditionally conservative. Oh, sure, Bush pops into a church during campaign time and says "Jesus" and the religious right just rolls over. But these guys aren't interested in conservin' much of anything.
You've got that right. Read this address by Rep. Ron Paul to the House or Representitives. Nice to see someone finally speaking up.
Now, let's hope somebody listens, sooner or later.

Re:I prefer Kerry myself
Bush has passed every Dem agenda that's come to him, from medicare health benefits to education spending increases. Every conservative I know is mad at Bush for pushing the liberal agendas. The NRA and even the nut job Jerry Falwell have threatened to pull support from him.
You are absolutely correct. I would advise every Conservative/Libertarian, hell, every American, read this address by Rep. Ron Paul to the House of Representatives.
Something is certainly rotten in Denmark. -
Perhaps if you paid attention...
You'd know that several of these men (perhaps even all of them) are members of The Liberty Committee, and that they're about as decent and fair a bunch as you're going to find in the nasty business of politics.
