No a surprise
Joe the moron Biden has been a copyright industry shill since his senate days. He as sponsored all kinds of draconian copyright bills with the likes of Berman, Dodd, and Hatch, but Biden is the ring leader. Its disgusting really. Then there is Orin Hatch this moron wanted to install software on our computers to monitor us for copyright infringement and destroy our computers if the software thought we were infringing.
The problem is that no one cares and copyright is not an election issue so we are all screwed.

Joe Biden is the culprit.

Will likely be implemented
Unfortunately this is MORE LIKELY to happen than not. The Vice President is fully influencing the President on this matter and it's not in a way we like. Joe Biden's pro RIAA history will almost guarantee it.
As Senator, Senator Biden had sponsored five pro-copyright bills and co-sponsored three. Among these bills includes the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2004, of which the similar yet brutal 2005 edition became law. Another was the Perform Act of 2006, which intended to restrict the recording and playing back songs off satellite and internet radio (this died in committee).

Re:The more I see of Obama...
The ACTA has been in the works since 2006, and I'm pretty sure Obama hasn't had anything to do with it before he took office.
"According to Congressional records, since 2002 (when he took over the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee) Senator Biden had sponsored five pro-copyright bills and co-sponsored three. Among these bills includes the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2004, of which the similar yet brutal 2005 edition became law. Another was the Perform Act of 2006, which intended to restrict the recording and playing back songs off satellite and internet radio (this died in committee).
While the content industry as a whole was neutral during the 2008 election (with the RIAA supporting John McCain and the MPAA supporting Barack Obama in terms of donations), the industry nonetheless rallied their support to Biden (and, to a less extent, Obama) upon his election. In fact, it was through sources at the RIAA that Tiny Mix Tapes was first made aware of Joe Biden's position on copyright."

Re:see sig...
You knew about this, right? It's not flac, but it's something. Honestly, though, I think I'd prefer regular SD cards. They seem slightly less easy to lose. [But only slightly.]

Review/news sites
These sites are essential to maintaining my indie cred. They aren't 100% RIAA-free, but they do skew quite heavily toward the independent side. Pitchfork is the biggest of these and IMO the best music publication in existence.

Re:Suffering the same as RIAA and MPAA
There's still fantastic music being made, just not on major labels.
I recommend these websites:

http://tinymixtapes.com/
http://www.epitonic.com/
And to a lesser degree, http://www.allmusic.com/.
If you can't find new music you like, you aren't trying hard enough!
