Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Macs are generally considered more user friendly for novice users, a group that I would guess video/graphics professionals would probably tend to fall into.

It's pretty common to see Naval vessels powered by an on-board nuclear reactor. Although I don't think the US Navy is currently running anything nuclear powered that isn't a submarine or aircraft carrier, they have in the past. Russia currently runs nuclear powered cruisers (such as the Kirov class) and icebreakers.

If you work on the Xbox, perhaps you can explain why the Xbox 360 won't stream video from Windows XP and even when you can get it to stream video, it doesn't support avi files. My chipped xbox running XBMC does both of these things, streaming the files from Windows Media Connect; which just adds insult to injury.

It plays those formats out of the box. The real kicker with Rockbox is that it plays Flac, supports gapless playback, crossfading and all sorts of fancy features not available in the Apple firmware. The ipods are amazing pieces of hardware, especially the video ones and Apple is definitely underutilising the hardware, if only to cut down on scary options for the average user.

The difference is that the car dealership doesn't make you sign a contract agreeing to any terms and conditions they see fit to impose on your use of the car for as long as the car is being used. The car industry also doesn't have every manufacturer imposing similiar contracts on sales of cars, forcing you to agree to these conditions, no matter who you take your business to.
