    Let's say someone else had won, kerry or not, and now has the job of cleaning up. Let's say the guy needs more than 4 years to perform all the repair to our international credibility, relationships, etc. How does that person get re-elected?

    Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he just wants to do a good job and get out of office while he still can. It has happened before - James K. Polk, for example. I know that cynicism tells us no one would want to run for just 4 years, but in a country that's hungry for good statesmen, maybe a one-term president is someone we should look for.

    This is yet another example of why They Might Be Giants are probably better off on a small indie label, selling most of their music on line.

    This is also in the FAQ.

    Essentially, the whole song is about confusing and mixing up events in one's past, especially historical events from the late 60's. "Free the expo 67" is confusing "Free the Chicago 7" and the "Libre Quebec" speech at the expo 67. This is similar to merging Martin Luther King and Malcom X together in the line "Martin X was mad when they outlawed bell bottoms".

    John Linnel, of They Might Be Giants fame, wrote an excellent piece on Internet voting as an editorial for the New York times. The piece can be read Here.
    It's well worth checking out.
