Check out the Holiday Special Figures...
They have the whole Chewbacca family here...
Naff StarWars trivia of the day:
Itchy (which is short for Attichitcuk) is Chewbacca's father; Malla (Mallatobuck) is Chewbacca's wife; and Lumpy (Lumpawarrump) is Chewbacca's son.
Wonder if they ever made a 'Wookie Pornstar' figure???

we do the slashdotting so you don't have to
Well, the site's being slashdotted to hell... I caught this yesterday (on memepool, which was already slowing the site down) and mirrored one of the more interesting things, a trading card peek at the 'yoda religion' that Lucas put the smack down on (and rightfully so)-- you can see the card here, along with direct links to some of the coolest things on the site. (like Atha Prime (slashdotted), possibly the first idea for a post-ROTJ storyline badguy, and this unreleased minirig (also slashdotted) clipon for the Falcon. And some other non-slashdotted, extended Star-Wars-iverse links as well. )

Hands up.
Hands up everyone who went looking for this. You know who you are.

Spooky
I think it's weird and spooky that all these bigger companies are buying out the things I know and love [slashdot, icq, winamp, what-have-you (I've always wanted to say that)]. What's up with this? As soon as This Guy does the same thing, I'm gonna buy a cat.

Toys R Gus
Does anyone remember the Lawsuit that Toys R Us brought on them?
Things are really getting out of hand here! -
Get yer "WDYWTG Tomorrow" banners here!Hmm, somebody made a knockoff of this graphic:
http://www.microsoft.com/questions/graphics/wd.g if
which can be seen here (provided Xoom doesn't start whining):
http://members.xoom.com/_XOOM/hoffleman/wd2.gif
If that takes you to a tosviol.gif, hit reload a few hundred times.
(Derivative works of art are new works of art and so not covered by the original copyright. I think.)
This reminds me of the whole " Toys R Gus" thing a while back, where toys r us said they owned anything with an "r us" in it.
But it's not like somebody is calling themselves "Microslobs" or "Microsloth" or "Micro$oft" or any of the other fun variants, they are using Microsoft's stupid tag line to poke fun at them. Microsoft is totally out of control. What's worse, they have no sense of humor.
As if anybody going to www.linux.de is going to buy anything from them because they think they're at Microsoft's site! Hello? Anybody home? I think we should do what the guy in the other article is saying, abolish copyright. No artist is against MP3 that I've heard, and the ones that are for it (Tom Petty) get in trouble and are told not to distribute their songs anymore. How can people own words?
I'm not talking about books here, or anybody's livelihood, but to own a sentence? Like "This way in." or "Where do you want to go today?" or "We make it your way." or "News for Nerds: Stuff that matters" er... scratch that last one. Anyway, you get the point.
This is just a general rant after having tried to login to the old "renegade OLGA archive, which was down. I guess forever? Stupid money grubbing lawyers... like Pearl Jam or Eric Clapton or any guitarist cares if people can play their songs?? No by-ear transcriptions??? Ugh, it gets me so aggravated!!

toysrgus.com / Toys "R" Us
Did anyone go to www.toysrgus.com and read the actual letter? Or are you just going by what News.com actually said?
Gus is a good friend of mine. The website was set up as an archive for Star Wars collectibles, of which there where hundreds, if not thousands. To the best of my knowledge, it was only an archive, not a store. The mere thought of that makes me laugh. If you knew Gus, you'd laugh, too.
Gus hasn't decided what he's going to do yet. He's considered complying, but sees that as only one option. He might fight it; he certainly has enough support. We'll see.
However, reading some of the comments above, I'm confused. It's okay to have a domain name that is the same as a trademarked name but having nothing to do with said trademark; but it's not okay to have one that sounds like a trademark? What kind of double standard is that? It sounds like something Microsoft would pull.
If that's the case, we'd better start shutting down sites like YaHooka (sounds too much like Yahoo!) and anonimizer.com (sounds too much like Anonymizer.com)!!
