Re:i still dont feel anything at all
You don't care if humanity dies? Why? So you can keep burning gasoline. It's hard sometimes with comments like these to figure out whether people like you are sociopaths or just petulant children.
We only have ~50 years of fossil fuel left and I (an only child) have no plans to ever have children. If you want to stop anthropogenic global warming then stop breeding you stupid fuckers!
As the population is growing, the resources that we all depend on, the food, energy, water, is declining. The demand for these resources will rise exponentially by the year 2030, with the world needing about 50 per cent more food, 45 per cent more energy and 30 per cent more water.

Re:Too early to tell
Considering Sarkozy got only 1% less of the vote than Hollande in the first round, it's far too early to call it. All the folks that voted for other candidates will pick 1 of the 2 in the next round, and considering the massive amount of votes that went to Le Pen...we might very well be seeing more of Sarkozy.
There are a lot bad signs for Sarkozy. For one, this is the first election in France's 5th republic where the sitting president didn't come out on top in the first-round popular vote [1]. Another is that Sarkozy has yielded his platform to the extreme right - this not only transfers power in the hands of Le Pen, but will piss off many of the non-extreme right wing voters. He has a very tough fight coming up, and I predict, barring any last-minute gimmicks/scandals, he'll lose it.

Re:Misreading
Accuracy and truth, out of slashdot comments, who knew is was possible!
I used to work at the Borg in a group near those honored by the presence of Mr Obasanjo over the years. I can confirm stories of his sense of entitlement etc. He is, however, an expert on XML and RSS. Just because you're an ass doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong. A good open source example is Theo de Raadt. However, Dare (and Theo, and others of their ilk) just don't respond well to criticism even if it's well-meant and constructive.
However, to suggest that the grandparent post was accurate is stupid. Billings worked on Netdocs, not NetCaptor (which is a crappy 3rd party browser). Sinfosky and the other bigshots at Office basically whooped Brian MacDonald's ass - and rightly so, it kept the Office revenue stream coming in for another decade. Too bad they didn't see Google Docs coming... oh well, we live in interesting times.
Also, Dare's daddy is the former president of Nigeria, he had to step down after he couldn't change the constitution to let him have a 3rd term in office. By all accounts he was a crap president not above the usual voting irregularities and corruption conspiracies but then we have the same over here, so what's the difference? -
Re:Be very careful people...
Don't criticize this! It would be like criticising THE Church! And that could get you lightning bolts up your arse!
What ignoramus marked this as Troll?
You are obviously not aware that Nicholas Negroponte himself, of OLPC, claimed that, "I don't respond to such criticism. Because criticising this project is like criticising the church, or the Red Cross.".

If you are ignorant, don't moderate. -
Another link to the story
From Google News, I came across a news site that's actually in Nigeria. The story is quite a bit more detailed here. The advertisiments alone on that page are quite amusing as well, it's worth a look.

Did anyone get...
...the new Spam mail with links? I just received a very reasonable sounding spam that talked about how some official was involved in a money scam, and recently died. It then backs up those statements with the following links:

The thing was so convincing, that it went right past Google Mail's SPAM filter and landed in my inbox. (All other Nigerian scams ended up in the SPAM folder.) Takes things to a whole new level.
In case anyone's interested, here's the complete text:
Subject: Hi...partner needed
I do not want to intrude so I will be brief and try and get to the point. I
have to use this way to contact you because it is quicker and more secured
for me. In today's world, I know it is sometimes hard to believe stories from
someone you dont know because I know we have never meet. In our world a
female's rights are not equal to a man's. Hence I need to look for contacts
outside our shores. My name is Angela Afolabi. My father, Sunday Afolabi,
just died some weeks back in a London Hospital of Cancer. He was a former
Internal Affairs Minister inmy country up till last year. This was before he
fell out with the present government. And since then and up till his death,
life was not easy for me and the family, but I give thanks to god that I am
still alive.
Before the death of my father, things were not easy and though my father died
leaving a fortune to us, the Government has refused to release the funds. My
father was imprisoned for several months last year and I am sure this is what
hastened his death. He had been arrested for being involved in a National
Identity contract scheme involving a lot of money.

I and my family have gone through alot.
Currently, I need an agent for reasons which I will say later. I was close to
my father and you see my father revealed to me certain information about some
bond certificates and money with a firm abroad when he was sick. I never
realised he would die so soon. I am unable to act on it now for security
reasons.
As a young woman here in this country, my options are limited. So I need an
agent or a partner in this endeavour.
Thank you.
