Re:My old car is fineReliability myths aside, a small car is not ideal for a lot of people, but there are many cars of many different sizes and capabilities that get much better mileage than 30. Where I am from, people who need to drive more than 10000 miles per year would choose a diesel engine by default.

and there's always Mercedes, BMW, and the whole VW group if you want something of even higher quality.

And in europe they can
What I realy find strange is that the eropean Ford and GM (called Opel and Vaxhall here) factories produce cars which meed those requronment at ease.
Look at here adverts in the UK:

Ok, then....
I'm sure GM would have no problem with a ruling forcing them to include literature for Vauxhall cars in the glove compartment, considering they already do it!

Take a look at the bottom right corner:

Vauxhall is a division of GM, sold in Europe. -
Re:Other places?
Yahoo! maybe, but the UK has had realtime web traffic maps for at least 5 years. I remember seeing this in action during 1999 - so it may be older than that.

Re:They aren't coming to Canada
The Suzuki Wagon R is one car I see a whole lot over here, like it's the Ford Explorer of Japan.
Perhaps it's more like the Vauxhall Agila??? Don't they look suspiciously similar (if not identical)??? -
Re:Heh
Big European familes seem to be able to cope with http://vauxhall.co.uk/showroom/search/brand.jhtml
? brand=Zafira&vehicleType=Carsub compact people carriers like these which can seat 7. Is the averge american family that large or is it more to do with status really? -
In the UK...
...we've had realtime traffic updates for a while now: TrafficMaster (Another). It updates every few minutes onto a small portable device in my car. When coupled with a Sat-Nav system, it's quite easy to avoid major traffic jams. -
Re:but then
Actually, back in April my wife and I chapperoned a trip to Paris and London. I remember seeing several interesting cars over there, and picked up a newspaper or two to read about them.
I was absolutely shocked at how poorly they did for fuel economy (and how expensive they were in general!). I read a review of the Vauxhall Zafira, I think it was. Thirteen thousand pounds for that little box! Yikes! The top-of-the-line GSi costs twenty thousand pounds and only gets 35 MPG on the highway? Their Astra model is just as expensive for the most part, but gets much better milage, not that Americans would buy a diesel-powered car that small for what amounts to $20K. -

180 miles is the *range* too. What's the point?
180 is not just the top speed in mph, it's the maximum range, too.
What exactly is the point of a car that can only drive for one hour [1] before being refuelled/recharged?
Why do boffins create such useless vehicles? Why are boffins obsessed with all-electric cars when dual-fuel is patently the more practical option? This kind of coverage of environmentally friendly vehicles is making these new vehicles a laughing stock. If boffins stopped harping on about all-electric and started publicising dual-fuel, maybe people would actually make the switch.
You can't save the environment with all-electric cars if people won't buy them.
