All the cynics are right...
This is a ridiculous response that basically says "we're not interested given that our donors like patents". That said the way you respond to a ridiculous response is by continuing to hound them until it becomes a major issue. Here is one I created to end all patents as I believe the system itself is corrupt and needs to be replaced by open competition.

I encourage everyone to sign it or create your own and post them here. Slashdot has shown the ability to nuke major sites due to the size of it's audience/community...let's make it clear we feel strongly about the issue. At the very least maybe they will take down their fake petition site which is offensive due to the fact they don't pay any attention to it. =) -

Wow, I was not aware of that. Now that I am, however, I started a petition calling them out on their farce of a response. I doubt they'll take it any more seriously than the earlier petitions, but right now I'm more concerned with people becoming aware that certain people in the government are legally required to lie to us if the facts don't support current drug policy. The Obama administration has made it possible to create petitions which, if they get sufficient signatures, will be responded to and potentially acted on. I've created one at http://wh.gov/4PW which I encourage all to read and sign if they agree with it. We can defeat this!
So Obama is by-passing the constitution yet again? Only Congress can bind the US to a treaty, not the President. (Though personally, I think Treaties should be required to pass Congress PLUS a Super Majority of the States.) Well, if Congress doesn't pass it, then there we can basically just ignore it.
