Re:No right to protection from stupidity
I noticed that the whois entry for www.warriorsforinnocence.org is anonymous as well, so open debate seems not to be an option.

Re:It would probably be the best PR campaign ever
http://www.nintendowii.com/ was forwarding you to nintendo.com a couple days ago, and now it seems to do nothing, with no information in the whois lookup.

After IM...

Even better...
... they also registered the following domain names:
googleporn.com
googlesucks.com
Can we expect better content from Google soon?
More seriously, when they register domain names, I believe it's more to prevent abuses than anything else...
There are more than 1800 domain names registered containing the google keyword. -

somebody mod this clown downRedwolves2 (Ralph Whitbeck) is at it again.
A few months ago, whenever Slashdot ran a book review, he'd immediately post a link to Amazon.com. Whenever he did this, he included his Amazon associates ID.
Many slashdot posters were disgusted by this parasitic behavior. Slashdot has a tough enough time generating revenue to stay afloat, and this guy was skimming the cream off of one of Slashdot's few revenue sources.
I think somebody reported Ralphie to Amazon, because another AC threatened to do that, and then RedWolves2's links disappeared.
But now he's back with a new trick. Rather than embed Amazon Associates links directly onto Slashdot, he's registered a site to do his dirty work.
In today's review, he points readers to his page, which seems to exist for no other reason than to feature books reviewed on Slashdot. Naturally, Ralphie's never forthcoming about what he's doing. Neither his Slashdot posts nor his website informs readers of his affiliate profits.
I worry that Slashdot will run out of revenue before it finds a viable business model. For all its faults, Slashdot is a valuable site. And it disgusts me to see someone like Ralph Whitbeck bleeding the site of potential revenue.

My school's the same, I'm afraid...My school are much the same when it comes to students registering domain names.
The school only has one domain name, rathmoregrammarschool.org.uk. Instead of buying domains from its students, they've simply threatened to expel anyone who registers a domain with the school's name in its domain - despite the fact that a search on Whois.org reveals 75 sites including the name Rathmore. A search on Google reveals four thousand pre-existing unrelated pages containing the name Rathmore, yet only 176 pages about the school itself.
It's not just domain names - a kid was threatened with expulsion after putting up a website named 'Rathmore Chat'. I've been personally threatened with expulsion after my website, on which I mentioned that I went to that school, contained a hidden link to a porn site as a joke.

Re:???whois.org reports "Matches Found: 2001 (limit reached)" when searching for "Linux". Let's not list all of them here, please.
