Re:Color coding, bad idea.
http://colorfilter.wickline.org/
That site lets a normal person see how a web-page looks to people with different kinds of color blindness. -
Re:Colorblind posters wantedI have no idea how someone with color blindness sees them, since I only have some red/green deficiency. But why rely on a description when you can try for yourself, with numerous forms of color blindness. Neat! Thanks for the information.

Re:Colorblind posters wanted
I have no idea how someone with color blindness sees them, since I only have some red/green deficiency. But why rely on a description when you can try for yourself, with numerous forms of color blindness.

Re:Most colorblind people can tell white from greeI know a few people who have Red/Green color blindness. They have trouble distinguishing between red, yellow and green.
The website http://colorfilter.wickline.org/ claims to provide representations of how websites will look to various forms of color blindness. -
Re:In simple mode the FONT SUCKS
As someone who is color-deficient, I'll say that I personally don't seem to have a problem with the new look. The colors seem very bright, so I may change my mind if my head starts to hurt. I'd also like to ask that you don't mod the parent down(and no, I am not him), since this is a big issue for usability.
There are a few different types of color-deficiency, though, and as such, I think the old theme should be an option. Please add it back to be sensitive to people who have problems with colors.
You can see how slashdot might appear with different types of color deficiency by going here. Thank you.

Re:the ultimate design-by-committee
I wonder how slashdot looks to the many men with colourblindness? Grey grey grey and grey - perfect!
I am quite sure you know there are many different forms of color blindness, but any good designer runs his test through a color filter first to check it's readability. The second design might be a bit too gray when viewed with normal (Protan) filter applied, but I think it works. It might not be the most visually pleasing website, but readability seems ok. -
Re:Not-for-Profit vs. For-Profit Software
Some Bobby alternatives: Cynthia Says and WAVE. There's also a Colorblind web page filter. For mozilla users, there's the Checky plug-in to manage validation services.
