Re:And In other News...
"... it has been reported that a farmer has modified his cessna cropduster with machine guns.'
The armed ag plane has been done already. The airship wouldn't stand a chance:

Re:The actions of a dictatorship
I think we're closer to 1938 or so.
9/11/2001 had the same effect as the Reichstag burning.
It doesn't ultimately matter who did it- it matters how we responded and I suspect that history won't be kind. -
Re:Gotta Be Orbital
The "1-hour" thing doesn't actually require the vehicle to go into orbit, a big enough ballistic arc will do (yes, I know an orbit is just a ballistic arc that misses the object being orbited...), there's probably ICBMs that could be modified to slow down enough at journey's end.
Either that or use one of these:

Re:Umm, don't we already have that?
Actually, as per usual, the Germans beat us to this idea during WWII:

History Lesson
Here's a history lesson for all of us to read. "On March 2, Hitler was asked by a corespondent of the Daily Express whether the suspension of liberties was permanent. He answered in the negative saying that full rights would be restored as soon as the Communist danger was over. The reality was that the decree of February 28th established what would become the normal order of things under National Socialism - arrest on suspicion, imprisonment without trial, the horrors of the concentration camps. This condition would persist until the end of the Third Reich."

Re: US is being intelligent; So should weCheck out this article and then tell me that we can all rest easy once our rights are gone.
But that was Nazi Germany. We wouldn't let that happen here. You might think this. But the danger of this happening is very real.
