On performance & chained bootloading...
I would like to see a performance comparison. Contrary to what you might believe (most products being based on AES, at least by default), there seems to be quite some scope for optimization. Here is one online comparison.
I'd like to see someone benchmark TC FDE versus something like Compusec, which seems to be leading in the aforementioned comparison.
Additionally, I'll comment that this does not take away "the final excuse". There is way too much software jumping all over the bootloader these days. I use a version management product called Rollback RX, for example, that lets you roll your drive (as Windows sees it) back in time to previous snapshots, and I'm pretty sure that installing TC FDE on this drive would kill Rollback.
It's about time that there was some standard for chaining bootloader software so that I didn't have to choose one or the other. -
Code signing will finally be more effective
I like this move. Code signing of Active X controls will be more effective, since all code will have to signed before execution. Plus I.E. 7 has capability to create Whitelist of certain trusted signers, and reject everything else. See Do you Code Sign ??? for more details.

Try push polling
Push Polling usually worx.
sample question:
"Would you be more likely or less likely to by ClosedSource/Proprietary/ClosedStandard Application if you knew they were designed to trap you in becomming life-long customer (vendor lock-in)?" ?
Oh wait, that is not push-polling - That is the truth!!!. -
include support for WebDAV
I don't know of any any distro optimized for creating a NAS. But I have used RedHat successfully to create a NAS.
On my NAS, I have also included support for WebDAV protocol. It comes in handy when your users are publishing Web Content. -
Why You Should Use XHTML 2.0 ????
XHTML 2.0 almost forces you to seperate "content" from "presentation". Which is a good thing.
Something better would be to use pure XML for creating content and then let the browser apply a CSS to present the content.
See Mozilla + CSS + XML = Structured + Formatted Content for more info. -
it don't work
trust me. you can not generate revenue from online ADs. Take Eric Raymond advice and sell mugs, t-shirts etc with your logo. That is better way to generate to revenue then to put AD banners. I used cafepress.com to create a online store to sell mugs and tshirts and it was pretty easy and effective.

Sun's Java Desktop will help
Sun's Java Desktop, which is based on Linux kernel and Suse Linux, will only help to increase the share of the Linux Desktop.
Sun Java Desktop System is full featured desktop OS that includes StarOffice + Support from Sun Microsystems, and is available for only $100.
Here are some more presentations on Sun Java Desktop

Sun Java Desktop
Check out Sun Java Desktop System. It is a OS based on a Linux kernel and Suse Linux.
Though you won't be able click and install applications, like one would do on a Window box, but Java Desktop System is a very close to it.
I think Sun Java desktop introduced a happy medium. Making it too easy to install software, increase chances of getting infected by a virus, worm etc.

sharing proprietary formated data
I hope the industry sees the opportunities that Longhorn's WinFS opens up. We can either work together and share data with each other, or we can be afraid and keep data to ourselves.
Share data? with whom? how can you share data that is in either proprietary format or "patented XML" ???
It is following the OpenStandard that will help in "working together and sharing data".

why SLR
My first question is: why do you need a SLR camera? If you are just looking for a digital camera, that can do good macro shots, take a look at Sony's Cyber Shot DSC-F717 . The macro shots with this camera are very good. However I personally think the camera is little flaky (could be just me). I also have a Canon PowerShot S50. It is a very good all purpose digital camra. Here are shots from a Canon S50 Panoramic and regular
bottom line: dont buy a digital SLR, unless you really need a SLR. -

good book for beginners
After reading the sample chapter @ oreilly, it seems like a good book fo beginners. I if you have involved in sysadmin/sys security, this book might be too basic for you. Just my thoughts.

Novell's implementation of WebDAV
Netware fully supports WebDAV protocol to access their file shares on the Netware Servers. They use mod_dav+Apache for providing the access. There is a elaborate GUI to control access.
I use Apache+mod_dav on a Linux server, which authenticates against a LDAP server. I dont use mod_digest, but I do everything over https:// so no need for mod digest. We have been using this for last 2 years, wwithout any issues. Very successful too. http://www.xml-dev.com/xml/photo/
