OMG. Terrorists do not use Apple Air laptops. They use Sony Vaios. Are they even humans? Do they even use iPods or are those godless bastards using Creative ZEN:s? How unpatriotic of them. Haven't they seen the you tube clip where a guy cuts a cake with Apple Air laptop. Clearly they can be used in planes instead banned of box cutt.... eh never mind.
OMG. Terrorists have access to the same unbreakable encryption system used by intelligence agencies and secretive teenagers around the world. What next? Are they going to start using Google to look for bomb making instructions?
Nothing at all - in a social studies class. I don't know anyone who argues against that. But discussion of religious beliefs doesn't belong in a biology class.
??? A heck of a lot of people certainly are advocating preaching to kids in the schools.
Like the insertion of "under God" into the Pledge of Allegiance, "In God We Trust" was a Cold War invention, meant to unite us against those Godless Communists. It's ignorant bullshit - and a blatantly unconstitutional "establishment" of religion.
Not really. Many of the founders were Deists. The idea of democracy and the structure of the republic are Greco-Roman inventions, developed long before Jeshua ben Joseph started his schtick. The Treaty of Tripoli, which notes that "the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion", was ratified in 1797 without any furor.
Seems to me the only form of government that could be based on "Judeo-Christian tenets" (at least mainstream ones) would be a monarchy - the Bible is full of kings, but I don't recall any elections.
It is absolutely amazing how easily people are being deceived by this global warming nonsense. It is probably going to lead to an economic breakdown throughout the world. The ridiculous constraints on people and industry would be the cause. When you are starving in the streets as a result of this, it will be your fault only and so be it. I personally have prepared for such a possible calamity. A godless people fall into this kind of trap.
>No! Not bears. They're godless killing machines.
Alternatively, they're God's killing machines.
The more you know...
No! Not bears. They're godless killing machines.
Um, no. Claims like this demonstrate a lack of understanding of what a model is.
From the perspective of physics, the universe is just a massive amount of data--more data than any single human can comprehend at once. But thanks to the models of Newton we have a set of relatively simple equations that describe, generally, the way bodies in the universe interact. The model is not perfect, but it is useful.
Likewise, Google uses a very explicit model to describe the universe of the web: some pages are more relevant to a given search query than others, and these pages will generally be more 'popular' among other important pages. Again, the model is not perfect, but it is useful.
The fallacy is that somehow what Google is doing is a paradigm shift. It's not. It's just applying the same kind of scientific method to a type of data that hadn't existed before.
What, I think, the article is really trying to say is that Google's data is so massive and complex that we can't ascribe any explanation to the results it gives us. First of all, that is false, because the PageRank algorithm in its simplest form does give us a very explicit explanation (popular pages generally return better results). But even if it were true, Newton faced the same kind of accusations when people called his model of the universe 'Godless' and claimed, for example, that he decribed how gravity works without actually explaining "why" it works like it does. And that accusation is always with science. There are always more questions raised than answered. This is nothing new.
This will not go on forever... And that "larger population" will suffer thanks to the obtuse lack of foresight and planning of the powers that are.
Actually, despite their month-long yearly vacation, the French have the same productivity the yankees have. This is mostly attribuable to the generous social safety net that makes sure workers are not stressed by the fear of losing their job if they go on vacation and being able to pay the doctor. Record consumer debt levels, as well as national debt levels is a success? Unprecedented hatred of your country thoughout the world is a success? You have strange ways of measuring success!!! Your success, perhaps, is the one that needs to be punished... Only the puritan americans are so offended of the human body to want to suppress such natural things as hair (protects the body) and body odour (sends pherormones to turn-on the opposite sex). But, again, it's true that sex is evil and must be suppressed at all cost...
Oh, go have a look at Latino art. You'll see plump women. This shows you that only the yankee are addicted to malnourished women. Myself, despite being plumpy and middle-aged, I'm a huge success with hot latina women.
This spoken by someone who's likely circumcized because society cannot tolerate that young boys would need to extensively touch their penises to wash them properly, thus ensuing the risk of masturbating in the shower and deriving pleasure from their own bodies...I couldn't care less what the Europeans think. Us "unwashed barbarians" beat them to a representative system of government, have the larger economy despite having 25% less population than Europe (300 million vs their 400 million), have a harder working populace with a higher level of productivity, and have saved them all from tyranny on multiple occossians. They can think what they want, but our success speaks for itself.
Oh, and am I the only one that finds it ironic that any European would consider an Amarican an "unwashed barbarian"? Ever try standing next to a French woman? She'll have hairy legs and armpits and often reek due to lack of deodarant/showers.
They say cleanliness is next to Godliness, so it should come as no suprise that citizens of these godless, athiestic societies smell like a butt crack.
It does, and it (or, rather, its leaders) stated it many times. The problem is that HAMAS believes that "Palestine" includes Israel as well. Obviously, Israel cannot accept that claim.
Palestine has its own telephone code (970), its own top level domain (.ps), and snail mail sent from anywhere in the world, addressed to "Palestine" arrives there. When people say "Palestine" they usually mean The Palestian Authority (that's when they don't mean "The land currently called Israel, occupied by the godless Jews").
There's nothing particularly pro-Palestinian or anti-Israeli in calling the PA "Palestine" (in fact, it's mildly anti-Palestinian because it hides the occupation). It just isn't factually correct.
Interesting. But, these 'bozos' you speak of? Do you mean the lackeys who represent the Power Structure in America? If so, I'm afraid history, and the fact that America is not populated by people who will take action based on 'ideas', means there's both good news, and bad news.
The bad news? 3 or 4 million people will actually have to be killed (I know that sounds a tad harsh, but really, you need to get the relatives and legions of young 'up-and-comers', brown-nosers and speechwriters, etc, it adds up, believe it);
but the good news is, you can save most of that billion dollars and get the job done with volunteers and less than 100 grands worth of 9 millimeters and ammo, one nine miller, base of one robber baron (facilitator, lackey, etc) skull. Next.
Spend the other 900 thou on lighting up some dark fiber, and we'll get back to actually being what this country pretends to 'represent', for real. But in the scheme of US history, we have a murderous, self-absorbed group of heavily-armed counter-revolutionaries in control of almost everything. And it is delusional to think that voting, for anyone, or letters, or street protests (etc) is going to change anything. These people live by destruction and the gun, and they'll only be replaced in the same manner. It's ugly, I know. But accept the need to deal, seriously, with these murderous, greedy, godless thieves, or get ready to accept an escalation of the status quo. Those are the only viable, historically-demonstrated (over and over) 'choices.'
Live free or die... recall that? I don't know about anyone else, but I only see one viable choice in there.
Eggs must always be cracked at the big end! Anyone who attempts to do otherwise is a godless heathen and can go back to Lilliput!
Er, wait, what were we talking about?
Except for godless commies and ex-commies...the Russians have some humungous suckers on the Kamchatka peninsula, and they have a radical policy of not building houses anywhere near them.

Suit: So Cocks called.
John: Cocks?
Suit: Yeah, Cocks. The network for the ballsiest.
Anyway, they want to be hooked up to our digital cable service. What's the capacity on our system right now?
John: Well we still have 50% of our bandwidth av--
Suit: Sweet Virgin Mary! Only 50%? Who's eating up all our bandwidth?
John: Well it's mostly HD football channels, and then peer to peer, and then Usenet.
Suit: Well, we sure as hell can't get rid of the football, and you were supposed to block peer to peer anyway! What in God's name is Usenet?
John: It's a bulletin board system where people can share files.
Suit: Well drop it! I'm not going to limit quality programming for some godless file sharing faggots.
John: But how do we explain that we're arbitrarily dropping a significant portion of our service?
Suit: What are you, stupid? Just say what we always say: we found child porn. Why do I pay you if I do all the thinking?
I just finished reading the first (Christian) review. Interesting stuff, in the sense that the author appears to be an intelligent and non-reactionary individual. Unfortunately, his arguments basically boil down to pointing out some trivial inaccuracies which do not in the least diminish Hitchen's point, followed by an argument that goes thusly:
* Hitchens ridicules religious people.
* Ridicule is wrong and bad for the world.
* Therefore Hitchens-style godlessness is wrong and bad for the world.
This is a very, very flimsy argument. Yes, there are some inaccuracies which Hitchens really should correct in a later edition. No, he has not been defeated by their illustration.
I will read the second review now, and post a response. I really DO try to keep an open mind to this stuff, and dishonesty does not serve anyone, but so far I'm with Hitchens.
Again, your post shows that belief in religion lacks critical thought. The gods of the old roman empire are not the same gods that Spinoza or Newton believed in - so, which one is the "real deal?" At least one of them isn't, so your "argument from authority", always a bad idea, fails on the face.
Wrong fallacy. You made a generalization about how "people who believe in god" can't be rational. To counter your assertion, I produced individuals who do believe in God and also believe in reason. This is not an appeal to authority. I was not appealing to the "authority" of these illustrious thinkers as some sort of proof of the existence of God, merely to demonstrate that there are indeed rational individuals who do believe in God.
I'm not "suggesting" - I'm stating as a fact that these people are indulging in superstition, that they've checked their brain cells at the door in their unquestioning acceptance of a belief with no objective proof. What ever happened to "The person who makes extrordinary claims must provide extrordinary proof"? Take it on faith? They should, if they were capable of critical thinking, take it with a grain of salt.
Ah, atheist dogma. Give me an experiment whereby I can vet your so-called "fact."
Subjective truth does not require objective proof. Do you believe in rights? Prove that they exist. Do you believe in quantity? Prove that such a thing exists. Do you believe in ethics? Demonstrate them with the scientific method. There is no objective proof for these abstract concepts. Likewise, those who believe in God may do so based upon subjective evidence and nothing more.
Your epistemology demands only objective proof. Nothing else will do. It is a limited world-view which fails to contemplate any other possibilities in a rational sense.
Not all theists are rational, it is true; but even the presence of a single exception among the bunch disproves your former assertion of "fact." That makes you a dogmatist.
No, it's a statement *about* religion, not a "religious statement. Just like if I make a statement *about* money, my statement is not itself money. Don't confuse the label for a thing with the thing itself (something object-oriented programmers forget all the time).
Earlier you accused me of making an appeal to authority; let me do so now. The social critic, Eric Hoffer, has been called the most literate man of the 20th century. He wrote a book called "The True Believer," and in it he said that although ours is a godless world, it is anything but irreligious. Everywhere the True Believer is on the march, shaping the world after his own image.
The greatest delusion of the atheist (though not all atheists), the one that makes him as dangerous as any zealot, is that he supposes that he is entirely irreligious. He believes that religion only applies to those who believe in God.
And so, when you say that all believers are irrational, you have made a statement that requires faith to believe in. Oh yes: faith. Why? Because you can never know, first hand, objectively, for yourself, the mind and disposition of all who believe in God. Such knowledge is impossible to obtain, unless you happen to be omniscient and I just don't know it.
No, you can't know whether such people are rational or not; you can only classify them according to your own limited epistemology, applying a particular inductive reasoning to the lot of them. Yes, it was a religious statement about religion. That was the irony of it.
They believe in something extrordinary without any proof whatsoever. It is *their* judgment that I question. *Their* inability to think critically. *Their ability to step outside the bounds that they have vested so much in, socially, emotionally, psychologically, and look at the FACTS. Since they have no FACTS to back up their beliefs, what is left is "I believe ... " without any reason to believe except "because!" That works for a tw
You ignorant, stupid, godless Canadian. It's no wonder you're a second-rate country. If our children see the godless gays kissing at a ballgame, they'll become godless gays themselves.
I mean, what the fuck are you thinking? "I can't really see why anybody is against gay marriage" That sort of attitude will ruin a country. Look at Rome! Look at Ancient Greece! Both fell due to rampant, unchristian homosexuality. Do you want that for Canadia? We don't want that for the US. We have GOD on our side, and why the hell would we risk that? God GOT us this country, and by god, In God We Trust. You can ruin your country, but when the Rapture comes, you're all toast. And the US will remain, a sterling beacon of truthiness and godliness shining above the blackened lands of the rest of the world.
And THAT'S what's wrong with gay marriage.
Stone age view? Sorry friend. It is extremely arrogant of you to suggest that God is a myth simply because you lack the desire to seek Him out.
Remember, just as you hold others accountable for wanting to follow His will, so will He hold you accountable for your godlessness. Of course, if you've ever picked up the scriptures, you'd know that. Just because you say you don't believe does not, in any way, change the consequences for your actions.
The ungodly have, and always will, persecute those who try to follow God's commandments. So if you think you're being "hip" or "cool" for rejecting the faith of your fathers, think again.
To anyone who has the desire to know their Father in Heaven and his plan for you: Learn of Christ and His sacrifice for all of God's children, repent of your sins, and be baptized in His name by one with proper authority. Read and ponder His words which He has given to us in the form of the Bible and the Book of Mormon.
Learn a higher way of living and leave godlessness behind you. I know he exists and that He loves all of His children. He will speak to us of the right path if we only seek Him out.

You must move to protect yourself from present day governments that are increasing hostile toward their citizens. They are godless and have deserted their consciences for political and personal gain.
I have written a program that does a hard shutdown of my full disk TrueCrypted computer when anyone clicks or moves the mouse, presses a key, or plugs or unplugs anything into my computer. I have not put it out in public yet because of it being potential used by the bad guys. However, the more intrusive governments become, the more I am tempted to make it public. The above tactics are the only way law abiding citizens are going to be able to stop these government tyrants from trying to build false cases against us. In the end, you and I can prevail if you are willing to. You will not be able to give in to their threats (including the extremely vicious prosecutor practice of heaping multiple charges upon you to try to place you in fear and thus agreeing to confess to a lesser charge to get the others dropped.)
The reason why Stalin and the commies were "atheists" was because they saw the Orthodox Church as a potential adversary to their rule. After all, the church was quite close to the Tsar, and deep down, Russians were a religious people. And if their religious leader had told them that their political leaders are godless heathens, things could have gotten ugly for the commies. But when Germany invaded USSR, Staling went to a mass and prayed.
I think it's more about "How can we get this Godless Hippie Crap off the InterTubes. Oh yeah, I know! Let's use a Wedge Strategy!". Then they look for the widest crack in libertarian's armour (which happens to be visible from space), namely their utter unwillingness to stand up for the legal rights of pedophiles.
If people won't defend the rights of the most wretched and most wicked, then they deserve no rights themselves. And that's what they're getting; at civil protests, at TSA checkpoints and now online.
