    The original article was published in the journal _Science_ (or will be in tomorrow's issue). This means that the abstract will be available for free at www.scienceonline.org, and the article itself for a small free (unless you are a member of IAAAS, that is).

    First of all, no reminder that the NYTimes requires a free login to read their stories. That has always annoyed me.

    Second, I thought it was cool a new story popped up in this section without hitting the main page. Then, it hit the main page. Oh well. :)


    BTW...I never noticed an increase in spam when I registered for my nytimes.com account.

    Does anyone know of a source that does not require that I sign up to get spammed by whomever the NYT sells my email address to?

      Either replace "www" with "partners" in the URL (if you can handle being mistaken for an AOL user), or log onto the NYT site with the user name and password "cypherpunk".

      Then there is the news article in Science, plus the actual report itself; both of these are available to the general public, unlike much of the (subscription only) journal.

    Why doesn't CmdrTaco register an a/c at NTtimes with username slashdot or something and then post it with the password with each story!
    PS:username==slashdot has already been taken :-(

    It would save a lot of hassle as well as helping anonymity on the net. I have signed up twice for nytimes but keep forgetting my username and pw.

    ALSO, if this is now on the front page - did the comments here transfer over?

    There it was, they reported today, in the chest cavity of a dinosaur's fossil skeleton uncovered in South Dakota

    I guess they would have more luck finding a dinosaur's heart in a dinosaur's chest cavity. I just hope someone tells Prof. Covington to focus his searches in similar areas...I just don't think he's going to find many dinosaur hearts with the Fraggles...

    EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT DINOSAURS WERE COLD BLOODED BCAUSE IN JURASSIC PARK THEY WERE ALWAYS TRYING TO GET IN THE SUN TO WARM UP. MY FRIEND WROTE A DINOSAUR SIMULATION PROGRAMZ IN QBASIC AND IT SHOWED THEY THAT WERE BETTER COLD BLOOD THAN WARM. SCIENTISTS WEREN'T ABLE TO MAKE GOOD DINOSIMS LIKE MY FRIEND BECAUSE THEY WERENT USING 1337 H4X0R PROGRAMZ LIKE QBASIC. YOU SEE, QBASIC IS WHAT'S CALLED A NATIVE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE WHICH MEANS IT RUNS FAST AND SHIT. LINSUX AND MAC DON'T HAVE NATIVE PROGRAMZ SO THEY SUX!!!!!!!
